Job Description

Operating 24/7, the Specimen Processing department plays a key role in the delivery of customer focused laboratory services and is vital to the operation of the laboratory. As a team member in this fast-paced environment, you will utilize skills in data entry, specimen processing, communication and customer service.Major Functions and Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots any discrepancies which arise on source documents (includes internal and external clients).
  • Performs problem solving and information correction requiring knowledge of the interrelationship of various computer systems.
  • Confirms with appropriate facilities and clients that all discrepancies are corrected and verified.
  • Acts as liaison with physicians to ensure that patient data is managed and maintained with accuracy.
  • Works with physicians to set up laboratory services and delivery of patient laboratory results
  • Initiate quality reporting by tracking and trending errors with the goal of finding preventative measures
Required Skills
  • Excellent computer skills, good working knowledge of LIS is beneficial.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client service and public relations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to perform duties independently and with others.
Required Experience
  • Minimum 5 year experience in laboratory data entry
  • Current experience working as a Data Entry Editor is an asset
  • Current Specimen Processing experience is an asset
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Relevant post secondary education is preferred

  • This position is open to internal applicants only
  • The current schedule is subject to change due to operational requirements
