Job Description

The Colas Group also has a network of companies in the USA.Job DescriptionAs Database Administrator, you will design, create, manage and tune production databases on servers. The ideal candidate will be able to apply their experience and knowledge of Oracle Databases, High Availability Environments, Linux, industry standards, and best practices as part of the JDE Development and Operations Team. This team has responsibility for the Database and ERP Systems related application infrastructure in our primary data center supporting numerous business offices and facility locations throughout the continent. This position also acts as a resource to all areas of ISS: troubleshooting the most complex problems, ensuring business continuity, participating in the development of innovative solutions and matching requirements to technology.Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth day-to-day operations of Oracle databases
  • Perform day-to-day administration of Linux servers (Oracle Enterprise Linux)
  • Responsible for availability of data, using all appropriate technologies (backups, high-availability, monitoring, alerting)
  • Assist with escalated support issues, troubleshooting and correcting issues as they arise
  • Optimize database and systems performance
  • Responsible for upgrade and patch of systems under responsibility
  • Work closely with developers and analysts on various project teams as the database subject matter expert and to ensure optimal application performance
  • Assume the technical lead role for Oracle databases and Linux projects, including automation and manual executions of system builds, installations, provisioning and deployment
  • Plan and coordinate security measures alongside network administrators
  • Enhance or build internal database designs
  • Participate in scheduled weekend and after hours work when required
Profile
  • Typically requires Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5 - 7 years contiguous recent Oracle DBA and Linux experience
  • Experience installing, configuring, managing, monitoring and troubleshooting Oracle 19c DB using Grid Infrastructure
  • Experience with performance tuning
  • Experience with backups, restores and participation in disaster recovery drills
Job QualificationsRequired:
  • Worked in a medium or large size enterprise as an operational DBA in a high transaction environment (Finance experience a plus)

Preferred:
  • Familiar with trend and capacity planning tools and processes
  • Knowledge of high availability technologies, disaster recovery (DataGuard, RAC)
  • Knowledge of scripting languages including T-SQL, PLSQL, Shell Script and/or Ansible
  • Oracle Linux and/or JDE experience
