Job Description

A growing tunneling contractor in Canada is seeking a Derrickhand/Drilling Fluids Technician/Driller/Operator to operate and maintain the Mud Plants at various sites across AB and BC. In the immediate future, this position will work on a rotational basis on a variety of projects. In the immediate future, locations such as Kamloops, Merritt, Smithers and more. Accommodation, flights and travel provided. Overtime eligible.Experience in operating separation equipment or working with rigs that require fluids is required, or other experience with shakers, centrifuges, pumps etcEssential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with mud plant equipment setup
  • Operate, and maintain the separation plant and drilling fluids system
  • Use skill and knowledge to streamline the mud plant operation and efficiency
  • Mix up slurry / lubrication Bentonite
  • Assist in effective fluids and solids control, recycle and disposal
  • Sign out required consumables, reporting usage
  • Monitor separation plant equipment and tank volumes
  • Participate in daily site meetings, and shift crossover meetings
  • Load and unload trucks
  • Assist with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Identify consumable or wear parts at mud plant and keep stocked through site supervisor
  • Effectively identify type and volume of cuttings coming off shaker
  • Complete required mud checks
  • Complete set up and pre drill check lists
  • Operation of boiler during winter conditions
  • Ensure proper safety precautions taken when working at mud plant
Experience
  • Experience with separation plant equipment (shakers, centrifuges, pumps etc.)
  • Worked on Drill Rigs or in Pipeline Construction where fluids/pumps required for drills
