Top Draw is searching for a creative Design & Development Manager to join our team. If youre looking to evolve your career at a growing digital marketing agency, wed love to meet you.As our Design & Development Manager, you will provide leadership to a team of designers and web developers to deliver creative and innovative web solutions and designs in line with client objectives and quality standards.This role is right for you if you have the following skills and are keen to build on them:Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in design or web development at a top digital agency
• 2+ years experience leading a team of web developers and designers
• Post-secondary qualification in design, visual communications, web development or related field
• Understanding of user experience, design, development & SEO
• Solid working knowledge of WordPress
• Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash etc.)
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills
• Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign
• Experience creating and executing brand strategy
• Superior understanding of strategies and tactics, including technologies
• Possess a strong sense of type, color and page layout design and industry leading trends

Your day-to-day duties:

• Lead the execution of compelling, creative and innovation-driven web and design projects
  • Maintain an understanding of both technical and creative visions of projects to ensure quality objectives are met
  • Manage team activities and ensure quality standards and best practices are maintained
• Frontend and backend development of new large/complex websites on various platforms, modifications to existing sites based on strategy
  • Develop website mock-ups
  • Maintain and modify existing code bases
  • Develop WordPress custom themes and plugins
  • Convert video and graphic designs to responsive HTML and theme for a CMS
  • Execute QA Fixes. Review codes and provide feedback to web developers
  • Oversee website launch
• Ensure strategic visual alignment of creative materials produced for and through the agency
  • Review work produced by other designers, ensuring consistent implementation of brand guidelines
• Manage external design & web development vendors and contractors. Ensuring they adhere to agreed timelines and deliverables are consistent with client requirements
• Provide initial recommended activities for new business (sales estimates)
  • Provide estimated hours for proposals and statements of work to inform budget requirements
  • Produce initial work estimate, oversee ongoing schedules
• Work with the Production Director to ensure internal processes maintain industry-leading quality
  • Take ownership of team processes. Ensure team members follow procedures
  • Design, document and implement new processes
  • Investigate opportunities to improve efficiencies
• Conduct regular investigation to cutting edge tools, and/or methodologies in web development & design
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies or tools. Provide thought leadership for adoption where appropriate
• Monitor and evaluate competitive promotional activities and identify opportunities to showcase work internally and externally
  • Manage award submissions
  • Identify opportunities for internal, non profit and client work to innovate and submit against major award categories
• Maintain an understanding of marketing trends to support the development of strategy with recommendations on promotional and brand identity
• Be the go-to resource on web development and design
• Participate in professional development activities. Stay abreast of industry news, technology, and trends and best practices
• Ad hoc tasks assigned by leader
