Job Description

  • The Digital Architect will be responsible for leading the solution architecture of digital services and guiding teams in implementation.
  • This role involves developing overall architectural plans, ensuring citizen-centered design and agile approaches, and providing solution designs that account for iterative implementation.
  • The Digital Architect will also mentor product teams, contribute to the architectural vision for user-centric services, and support continuous improvement of architecture practices.
Requirement/Must Have:
  • Bachelor #39;s degree in Computer Science or related field (equivalencies will be considered).
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional agile product teams, providing architectural direction, and mentoring developers and technical leads.
  • Experience as a software architect, leading the design and delivery of enterprise-scale solutions using modern development stacks in complex organizational environments.
  • Experience working with teams that apply UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches.
  • Proven ability to define and communicate solution architecture for large-scale systems, including integrations, modernization strategies, and cloud-native design patterns.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop the overall architectural plan, ensuring a citizen-centered design and agile approach.
  • Uncover existing system context and provide recommendations and prototypes for technical discovery and feasibility.
  • Deliver solution designs that enable iterative implementation and analyze impacts, exposure, and risks.
  • Facilitate frequent delivery of products to ensure target architecture is achieved.
  • Define tactical approaches for integrations and system boundaries.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage common components and digital service capabilities.
  • Provide guidance on detailed design creation and review code changes.
  • Contribute to code changes to implement user stories and complete technical tasks.
  • Coach and mentor product teams in architecture and implementation best practices.
  • Contribute to the architectural vision for user-centric services and common components.
  • Support development of principles, metrics, and standards for service quality and delivery.
  • Provide software architecture information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement of the architecture practice.
Should Have:
  • Experience applying secure development practices and managing identity and access using role-based or attribute-based access control and Zero Trust Architecture principles.
  • Experience designing and implementing modern web applications, including responsive and accessible front-end development using modern UI frameworks.
  • Experience designing and managing APIs, including RESTful services and system integrations.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, deployment, and observability.
  • Experience incrementally transforming legacy systems into modern digital services across multiple releases.
  • Experience with containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure-as-code practices for cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Experience with distributed systems design, including event-driven architecture, microservices, and domain-driven design.
  • Experience working with both relational and non-relational databases, including schema design and performance optimization.
  • Experience working within public sector digital service frameworks or enterprise architecture standards.
  • Experience collaborating with other architects or cross-functional teams to identify efficiencies through common services, reusable components, and APIs.
