Carbon Removal Canada is looking to expand its small but mighty presence and engage the Governments of Alberta and British Columbia on the economic and environmental opportunity that carbon removal technologies can present - are you the person to do itWho are weCarbon Removal Canada is an independent non-profit dedicated to positioning Canada as a global leader in permanent carbon removal technologies. We believe Canada has the resources, expertise, and innovation ecosystem needed to pioneer this critical sector.At Carbon Removal Canada, our mission is to shape policies that enable the rapid and responsible scaling of the carbon removal sector at both federal and provincial levels. Acting as an honest information broker, we facilitate collaboration across the carbon removal ecosystem to help drive meaningful policy change. Over the past year, we have partnered with the Government of Canada to develop programs aimed at purchasing carbon removal credits, funding technological innovation, and integrating carbon removal into Canada’s climate targets—among other key initiatives. Now we want to replicate that impact in Western Canada.The roleAs the Director of Western Canada, you will spearhead Carbon Removal Canada #39;s strategic engagement with the governments of Alberta and British Columbia, as well as key public interest groups.In this role, you will cultivate and maintain critical relationships with government officials, contribute to policy development, and lead outreach efforts with high-profile stakeholders. By leveraging our policy research expertise, you will work to encourage provincial governments and opposition parties to adopt forward-thinking policies that position Canada as a global leader in scaling carbon removal.Your responsibilities will include identifying and acting on opportunities to advance policies and programs aligned with our objectives, while navigating political developments that could hinder progress. A key part of your work will involve building a durable political coalition to ensure that policy gains remain resilient in the face of political changes. You will represent Carbon Removal Canada in government and stakeholder engagements. You will collaborate with the Carbon Removal Canada team, draw on the support of the Director of Government Relations, and report directly to the Executive Director.What you’ll doBelow is a list of key responsibilities currently envisioned for this role.
