Job Description

EDITOR, CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT (CASUAL)RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC INNOVATIONNorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone who can be dependable and have honest conversations in the editing of curricula for multiple certificate, diploma, and microcredential programs, all with diverse and unique learners. You will ensure edited materials are inclusive of language and context for various cultures and demographics of the College learners and communities, including Indigenous peoples, new Canadians, and our BIPOC community.Reporting to the Manager, Curriculum Development, and working closely with the Senior Editor, the Editor supports the department with curriculum copyediting including course content, storyboards, assessments and technical writing for various types of courses; and supports the division with grant and award writing, proposal documents, and research reports.You can expect to work 20-40 hours each week, dependent on individual project deadlines.HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Edit curricula from a variety of credit programs, microcredentials, and open education sources.
  • Collaborate with curriculum team members, including cross-department members, to support quality curriculum development.
  • Provide editing suggestions and support to Subject Matter Experts.
  • Support grant and award writing, proposal development, and research reports.
  • Use familiarity with copyright, fair dealings, creative commons, writing for online course delivery, and open education resources to ensure curricula complies with laws and compliance efforts.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • University Arts degree in English, Journalism, Education, or a related field, or relevant experience as an editor.
  • Familiarity with inclusive language and plain language.
  • Experience editing curricula including online courses, web, and digital publications.
  • Knowledge of current Canadian copyright laws related to post-secondary education.
  • Preference may be given to someone actively involved with an editing association, or with post-secondary experience.

SALARY: $21.73 - $27.23/hour reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. Plus, 11.2% in lieu of vacation.We offer flexible work options.
