Job Description

Overview:Excavator OperatorSureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, with 49 years’ experience, involved in; civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction.Work for Sureway and enjoy being home with your family/friends every night!We offer: Benefits, RRSP and TFSA MatchingJob Type: Full Time, SeasonalTravel Pay: $40.00/daySchedule: 10+ hours per day, 6 & 1, OT after 8hr/day or 44hr/weekLocation: Nutrien Redwater Fertilizer Plant, Redwater, ABEssential: Hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, ability to work in physically demanding conditionsScope:

  • Earthworks Component – Over 300,000m3 of Common Excavation (large portion of this being Gypsum) and finish grading required to regrade existing slopes
  • Underground Component – 4km of 18” HDPE pipe install with HDPE Manholes. 4km of 12” slotted, corrugated drain pipe which includes preparation, sewing and installation of Geotextiles and Geocomposites.
Requirements:
  • Personal Reliable Vehicle
  • CSA approved steel toed boots with 6” ankle support
  • Valid Driver’s License (non GDL)
Pre-employment:
  • Drug and alcohol testing (swab-based test)
  • Successful completion of Company Orientation and site-specific orientation
Excavator Operator Responsibilities:
  • Safe operation of excavator as it pertains to stripping, ditching, sloping, leveling and finishing
  • Operate excavator in close proximity to ground personnel and other equipment
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Excavator Operator Qualifications:
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience as an excavator operator.
  • Experience with finishing work required.
