Job Description

Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for almost 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking for a Raker to work with our company #39;s Asphalt Paving division for the upcoming 2024 road construction season.This is a seasonal position that offers competitive wage with benefits. The primary duties for this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Helping with shoveling or operating the bobcat when needed or as required.
  • Raking joints and seams and communicating with the roller operator to achieve the best results possible.
  • Monitoring and fixing the overall quality of work including, segregation, high or low spots, bumps, etc.
  • Helping with stringing the road before paving to ensure you have the proper grades.
  • Overseeing the raising of manholes and water valves.
Requirements
  • Have an understanding of the construction industry and road construction specifications and standards
  • Display a professional and courteous approach with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
  • Must be physically fit – repetitive bending, lifting, kneeling, walking for long periods of time.
  • Be able to work in inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Punctual and able to work full time, overtime, and weekends.
  • FOR OPERATORS: Must maintain a driving record that meets Park Paving’s minimum standards for vehicle and equipment operation – 6 or fewer demerits in 3 years, no dangerous driving charges, no DUI charges, etc.
Successful candidates will also possess the interpersonal skills needed to take direction and coordinate their efforts with their crew and foremen, while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment. Successful candidates will also be able to maintain a *safety-minded* and *high accountability* work culture while working with their direct supervisors, and other employees while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.*** Successful candidates must have a driving record free of major infractions, and must pass a medical/fitness exam, as conditions of employment. ***Pay Scale: $28 - $34 / per hour#PPLLP
