We are more than a shelter and a safe haven for thousands of animals in our care each year, We play a key role in the Edmonton region by enriching the lives of people and their companion animals not only through our sheltering, but thorugh our programs, ssrevices and community engagement.The RoleReporting to Supervisor, Facilities and Maintenance, the Facilities Assistant supports the Facilities and Maintenance department in order to maintain a high level of service to the community. The Facilities Assistant helps oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of EHS and strives to provide high quality maintenance and service work to the Edmonton Humane Society.Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible to assist and support the department with a variety of functions including :Handling basic repairs and maintenancePick up, receive, and restock all areas with the required suppliesDay to day tasksConducting routine inspections of premises and equipmentFollow safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as requiredAssist in monitoring inventory and order suppliesOperating a variety of standard power tools and equipment (lawn mower, electric hedge clipper, edger, tiller etc.)Adjust, clean, and perform minor mechanical work on grounds equipmentMaintaining maintenance records, receipts and ensuring proper follow-up of all maintenance contracts as directed by Director, AdministrationEducation and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or equivalentExperience in building, maintenance, operations would be considered an assetExperience with power and hand tools is requiredSkills and AbilitiesAs the ideal candidate, you are a trusted, ability to multi-task with positive attitude, enthusiasm and energy. Independent, resourceful and proactive you are a compassionate problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced enviornment.Compensation/HoursCompensation: EHS offers a competitive Not-For-Profit compensation, and a strong work-life balance.Hours: 40 hours a week; however, is expected to work hours as required to fulfill department responsibilities.
