Click Here: The Gibson WayInterestedThe Facility Operator Trainee is responsible for carrying out and ensuring safe, reliable, and effective facility operations in Edmonton. The position requires a team player to work within the operations team to contribute to the smooth running of the operations to meet our customer’s needs.What Youll Be Doing
  • Ensures personal safety and follow safe operation procedures for facility.
  • Ensures railcar loading and unloading is complete.
  • Completes all required documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Responsible for being familiar with Emergency Shut Down (ESD) and start-up procedures.
  • Monitors capacity levels (e.g. tanks, bullets, railcars, etc.).
  • Follows company HSE policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Responsible for attending regular safety meetings, identifies any safety concerns to Plant Manager or Team Lead and reports all incidents, near misses and hazard ID’s.
  • Maintains current safety training and certification.
  • Completes safety inspections, checks.
  • Ensures the receiving, storing, blending, and shipping of product through the facilities.
  • Develops and sustains positive working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  • Ensures general upkeep of facilities.
  • Is responsible for vehicle upkeep and routine maintenance.
  • Ensures all terminal checks are completed and terminal operations are carried out safely and promptly.
  • Informs Operations Supervisor, Team Lead, Operator 1 when changes or problems arise.
  • Participate in the Operator training program for the appropriate operations level.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Performs duties consistent with Gibson’s Values and Principles.
  • Communicates to immediate supervisor / manager of actions taken.
  • Represents the department and the Company in a professional manner.
  • Participates in operator training to achieve. Facility Operator Level _4_ as per the Agreement.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment and proactive approach to Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) through participation in all applicable EH&S programs and ensures safe operation of the branch, team or unit and compliance with all Company EH&S policies and procedures.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
What Youll Bring
  • Completion of a High School Diploma.
  • Completion of post-secondary education or related certificate an asset.
  • Previous railcar loading experience or terminal operating is an asset.
  • Must complete Competency Management & Development System (CMDS) Level 4 within one year from start date.
  • Valid Class 5 NON-GDL Alberta Driver’s License.
  • Possess and keep current all safety certification including: TDG, WHMIS, H2S, First Aid, Fall Protection, Confined Space.
  • Ability to deal with customer concerns courteously and on timely basis.
  • Ability to work independently and complete all duties with minimal errors.
  • Ability to understand and complete any assignment given outside normal duties.
  • Exhibits a comprehensive knowledge of all operational functions is required.
  • Ability to assist with peoples work related problems.
  • Ability to prioritize work.
  • Align and be fully competent with the functional competencies outlined in the job profile assigned via the Competency Management and Development System (CMDS).
Working Conditions
  • Most of the work is performed in an outdoor environment. Employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the company’s safety policies and as required for weather conditions.
  • This position requires physical mobility and able to perform duties at heights and/or near dangerous goods.
  • This job is subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as outlined in Gibson Energy’s Drug & Alcohol policy.
