POSITION ANNOUNCEMENTPOSITION TITLE: Facility Support WorkerREPORTS TO: Manager of FacilityLOCATION: Sherwood Park, AlbertaTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full time/Permanent, Sunday through Thursday (2:00 pm to 10:00pm)STARTING DATE: As soon as possibleA Safe Place is an emergency shelter for women and their children in Sherwood Park and the County of Strathcona. We offer temporary shelter counseling, support services, and information to women and their children and are an advocate for all victims of abuse. We provide outreach and referral to community resources to anyone who requires our support. We are involved at the local, national and international levels to build awareness and understanding and to share knowledge in hopes of finding a way to end abuse.COMMON PURPOSEAll employees have a responsibility to carry out the vision, mission, and values of a Safe Place while adhering to all agency policies and procedures. Paramount to this responsibility is demonstrating a client-focused approach to all aspects of A Safe Place operations.POSITION OVERVIEWTo provide a safe, clean home environment for the resident families we serve in accordance with established Shelter Policy and Procedures and as governed by Provincial Health and Safety regulations.SCOPE: (placement within the organization)The Facility Support Worker reports to the Facility Team Manager in relation to day-to-day tasks and overall performance evaluation and works closely with Counsellors, Admin Assistant, Volunteer Coordinator, and In-House Volunteers.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRespond sensitively to clients’ emotional and physical needs.Report health and safety concerns to the manager.Order groceries, grocery shopping, and manage household expenditures to meet the budget.Ensure that all storage areas are organized and meet Provincial Health and Safety standards.Complete general cleaning duties in accordance with the established cleaning schedule and task lists.Launder and organize the kitchen and house laundry.Follow standardized menus for meal preparation and prepare, serve, clean up after meals.Pick up, organize and sort donations.Clean clients’ rooms as required and report needed repairs to the Manager.Clean bathrooms as required and report needed repairs to the Manager.Coordinate special event meals.Clean central vacuum monthly and report needed repairs and maintenance.Minor yard work (watering the grounds, shoveling and salting walkways, clearing snow from the front step, kitchen step, and back door).Monitor house maintenance and report needed repairs to the Manager.Take vehicle for an oil change, tire pressure check, and other maintenance (including vehicle registration).Take recycle bottles to Bottle Depot and recyclable materials to the Recycle Depot.SHARED RESPONSIBILITIES:Participate in the ongoing development of a comprehensive routine of daily, weekly, and monthly household chores to ensure a clean, comfortable, and organized home which meets Policy and Procedure, and Alberta Health requirements.Work with Volunteers.Report and update plans with team members on a daily basis and at team meetings.Attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings.ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:Submit monthly timesheets according to established procedures.Submit monthly expense reports according to established procedures.Maintain daily duty log.Suggest improvements to all areas of the house to the Manager.QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIREDGrade 12 or equivalent and/or past related experience and demonstrated organization skills.Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check and Police Intervention CheckValid St. John’s Ambulance First Aid and CPR CertificateValid Driver’s License and clean driving recordWHAT WE OFFERSalary range with a starting point of $17.21 up to $20.98.Extended health care, dental, and life insurance benefits.Training and career development opportunities.HOW TO APPLYInterested candidates have until Monday, April 26, 2021, to apply.
