If you share our values and support our mission and vision please consider joining our team.Job OverviewPartnering with the C5 Collaborative and the North East Family Resource Network (FRN) Hub, Terra is one of the Spoke service providers for Edmonton North East. Working with families referred from the North East FRN, the Family Engagement Worker assists young moms and dads in their development of positive parenting skills to foster healthy parent child relationships. Through home visits and community outreach, participants are supported to make healthy choices and to develop their capacity to effectively meet the needs of their children. This position will work closely and in collaboration with the other service delivery partners at the North East FRN Hub to ensure that families are well supported by and connected to their community.Job ConditionsReporting to the Family Learning Program Supervisor, the Family Engagement Worker position works 37.5 hours/week with flexible hours to meet the needs of families, and the North East FRN. Hours of work will include some evening and occasional weekend support for programming. This position is supported and supervised through Terra however will be situated at the North East Family Resource Network Hub in Clareview. The Family Engagement Worker will be part of a team at Terra and at the North East FRN and will contribute to planning and service delivery discussions at both sites. While most participants on the caseload will be young parents, the FRN has the option of assigning other families to this position to best meet the needs of the North East community.Responsibilities

  • Meet with families regularly to provide parenting education and support; guidance in adapting to the role of parenting; child development information; custody and access support; career and life skills planning; community linkages and referrals.
  • Conduct advocacy on behalf of and with young families.
  • Participate in collaboration and service planning.
  • Collect data, measure outcomes, and complete evaluation activities as required in the database.

Qualifications
  • A Diploma or Degree in human services;
  • Experience working with vulnerable youth and expertise in assessing individual strengths and needs;
  • Experience in developing goals with youth/families;
  • The ability to develop and deliver individual or group programs that enhances basic life skills;
  • Strong communication skills that ensure effective communication;
  • Strong computer skills and previous experience using a database;
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle to transport clients and children (class 5).
