Nanaimo Forest Products (NFP) Ltd., the owner of the Harmac Pacific trademark, restarted the mill with a single production line on October 3, 2008. Since that time the mill has grown to two production lines and a capacity of 380,000 tonnes of world-class pulp per year.Key to Harmac’s success is the employee ownership model. Our employees are very active participants in the running of the business and have 2 members that they appoint to the company’s 6 seats on its Board of Directors.The future of Harmac Pacific Pulp is looking bright. Through extensive capital investments, the organization has made significant improvements to productivity and reliability. In addition, as of 2013, the installation has been complete of a 25 MW Green Energy turbo-generator which we currently use to sell power to BC Hydro.About Nanaimo, British ColumbiaNanaimo, located on the southeast coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, is one of the premier locations for a pulp mill in the world. Nanaimo is located just 20 minutes by floatplane from Vancouver and 90 minutes by Ferry.About the OpportunityHarmac Pacific currently has an exciting opening for a full-time Fibreamp; Logistics Specialist to join our team in Nanaimo, BC. Travel may be required within B.C., Washington, Alaska, and Oregon.Reporting to the Head of Fibre Supply who reports directly to the CEO, the Fibreamp; Logistics Specialist provides leadership and expertise to coordinate the sourcing and transportation of wood fiber, sawdust,amp; hog fuel for the pulp mill.More specifically, your responsibilities will consist of:Coordinating the sourcing and purchases of all pulp logs, wood chips, sawdust, and hog fuel for the operation of the Harmac pulp millProviding support for the procurement of raw materials for the millCarrying out audits of fibre suppliers to quality specifications and working with them to ensure they are meeting quality targetsDeveloping the framework for an alternative fiber supply based on salvage opportunities, including creating the relationships with MOF, First Nations, Private Landholders, and communities necessary for successRepresenting the company in dealing with Government Agencies, First Nations Groups, and Special Interest Groups related to issues concerning access to forest resourcesKeeping management briefed on implications of Forest Policy and supporting lobby efforts with governmentProviding support in the creation and operation of fiber transportation chains for fiber sourcing in the USA, the BC Interior, and remote areas such as Bella Coola, Prince Rupert, Stewart, and Hazelton, including fiber suppliers, trucks, rail, reloads, and marine transportMaintaining and improving the Environmental Chain of Custody certification for Nanaimo Forest Products Ltd., including working with suppliers to develop internal tracking systems and with production and marketing to ensure information is gathered and reported correctlyMore About YouIn order to qualify for this role, you will need 10 years of related industry experience, along with at least 5 years as a buyer/purchaser. Preference will be given to candidates who are a RPF (Registered Professional Forester).We are looking for an individual who is interested in pursuing a career with our company and is open to contributing to the extent of their abilities.
