Job Description

After 20 years in business, we run efficiently as a drug and alcohol-free company.Job Requirements:Matrix is seeking experienced Flight Operations Personnel to ensure safe and efficient use of all helicopter and fixed-wing operations time at our client’s camp facilities. The Flight Operations Personnel schedules the movements of all crews and supplies to and from the project site, while providing flight overwatch. To ensure the safety of all crews, the Flight Operations Personnel will maintain regular check-in times and will provide the central coordinating role for general operations and in the case of an emergency. This position will assist in External Load Operations, in a “Load Master” style capacity – if required. Flight Ops Personnel are housed at the project camp site and reports to MATRIX Helicopters General Manager, who provides general direction and support.Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and schedules helicopter/ planes (737’s Dash 7’s, Twin Otter’s, chartered personnel flights, etc.) support for a variety of programs including mining, exploration and drilling programs.
  • Aircraft radio operations (surface, air, blasting warnings), weather observation.
  • Exercise and maintain joint responsibility with contracted airlines for operational control in all matters affecting safety of flights.
  • Advise pertinent personnel of any operational concerns that may impact operation including flight delays, cancellations, payload restrictions, equipment severability and ground support concerns.
  • Prepare and maintain various reports on the progress of flight activity using manual and computerized systems.
  • Coordinates and monitors logistics of the movement of parts, supplies, materials, and personnel transported via aircraft from major centers to site-based locations.
  • Ensure prompt receipt and delivery of equipment to and from contracted airlines.
  • Maintain detailed data records of cargo movement.
  • Complete administrative support functions including filing of daily reports, to the Supervisor.
  • Work in co-operation with all flight crews on constant basis throughout the operation.
  • Check-In times to be scheduled with all crews (may vary with projects but must be established.)
  • To initiate and coordinate a search in the event of an “overdue” aircraft, or other emergency operations.
  • Assign the aircraft according to the client needs in order to maximize the efficient use of all aircraft.
  • Knowledge of passenger and load capacities for a variety of fixed-wing and helicopter types will be required.
  • Maintain accurate records of flights times and passenger movement.
  • Responsibilities may vary according to project requirements.
  • Track all personnel in remote areas
  • Regular call ins
  • Aircraft tracking protocols must be followed per operators procedures.
  • Implement Emergency Protocols – if required.
  • Support site Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
  • Initiate medical evacuations as instructed by Medical Care Professionals.
  • Partner with Camp Manager/onsite supervisor(s) to schedule and execute “mock Medi-Vac”.
  • Ensure that all communication devices are charged and operational.
Preferred Knowledgeamp; Experience
  • ROC-A Aviation Radio License (may obtain upon hire)
  • Experience working in a flight, travel, or logistics for remote based operation, with preference given to those with experience in mining environment.
  • Post-Secondary Diploma in travel, transportation, business, or supply chain management
  • Demonstrated capability in organization skills and multitasking.
  • Strong computing skill; MS Office (Outlook, Wordamp; Excel)
  • Experience in record keeping, tracking, planning and scheduling.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Highly motivated, team-oriented individual with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on a rotation schedule.
  • Able to work and maintain a high level of performance during a 12-hour shift.
  • Ability to work in remote locations, with varying climates.
