Who Are WeThe Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation is a not-for-profit organization which operates Jessie’s House, a 35-bed stage one emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence located in Morinville, AB (20 KM north of St. Albert). Jessie’s House follows trauma-informed practices while serving Sturgeon County, including CFB Edmonton, St. Albert, Alexander First Nation, and surrounding communities lacking shelter services. In your role, you will support the Foundation’s mission, vision, values, and strategic plan by creating opportunities to grow community support, and revenue opportunities with a focus on annual giving, corporate and individual donations, JMMF fundraising events, and 3rd party fundraising.GENERAL FUNCTION

  • Create, maintain, and grows individual donor and community support, and revenue opportunities with a focus on annual giving, corporate giving, JMMF fundraising events, and 3rd party fundraising
  • Work collaboratively with Executive Director, Fundraising Committee, Founder, Donor Relations Administrator, and volunteers of the Jessica Martel Memorial Foundation
  • Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio minimum of $300K annually
  • Cultivate relationships with corporations, individuals, and community partners
  • Meet fundraising goals and deadlines
  • Support Foundation vision, mission, values, and strategic direction
  • Leadership and supervision of Donor Relations Administrator and external contractors
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES
  • Create, manage, and maintain short-term and long-term fund development strategy
  • Create, manage, and maintain a grant development process, including assisting with grant proposals and applications
  • Create, manage, and maintain donor records, processes, and procedures, including gift acknowledgment and recognition • Hands-on planning and coordination of all development activities and special events
  • Prepare monthly reports on progress
  • JMMF United Way Committee member
  • Attend staff meetings and training workshops at the request of the Executive Director
  • Maintain professional working relationships with co-workers, clients, stakeholders, and community partners
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
  • Establish strong rapport and relationships in the community • Creatively and analytically identify strategic opportunities to cultivate and engage key supporters
  • Coordination and delivery of tours at Jessie’s House
GENERAL AND FACILITY RELATED RERSPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a high degree of safety, security, and confidentiality
  • Support Executive Director in in the implementation of all other programs, as requested by the Executive Director
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • 37.5 hours per work, Monday to Friday flexibility required to work additional hours, evenings and weekends as required
  • Some travel may be required
  • Combination of working at Jessie’s House and working from home.
  • The schedule is negotiable.
  • Moderate physical effort required to assist with events that could involve lifting, standing long periods of time and working in various climates. Pro-longed periods of sitting, computer use
  • Moderate to extreme mental effort required to meet deadlines, ensure accuracy of data and entry into Client Relationship Management systems. Ability to handle and respond to occasional intense situations
QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS
  • Post-secondary education, with preference given to an applicant with at least 3 years of experience in fundraising and event management within a non-profit environment
  • Superior interpersonal skills, making presentations and public speaking skills, good listening, and negotiation skills
  • Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities and the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • A skill for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders • Experience in Donor Database Management systems an asset
  • Exceptional planning and prioritization skills, time management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office programs, writing reports, letters
  • Demonstrated drive and initiative to accomplish results
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently
