Job Description

Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for almost 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking for a General Foreman to join our Excavation Services team.In this role, you will be responsible for supervising a team of Excavator Operators, Grades People and Flaggers ensuring that all excavation and removals projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards.This is a Full Time Seasonal position with a winter work opportunity of reduced hours of up to 32 hours per week. Key responsibilities:

  • Participate in safety meetings and enforce safe work practices and procedures on the job site.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and schedule Excavator Operators, Grades People, and Flaggers.
  • Coordinate with Project Superintendents to ensure work is being carried out on budget, within scope and on schedule.
  • Maximize site productivity by managing and coordinating work performance, quality and efficiency of resources.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to the excavation team members.
  • Monitor progress and performance, and make necessary adjustments to ensure project success.
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, time sheets, and equipment maintenance requests.
  • Ensure maximum utilization of trucking resources for efficiency at all times.
  • Inspect work progress, equipment and construction sites to verify safety and to ensure specifications are met.
  • Working on municipal rehabilitation, new development, and industrial sites (pre-access drug / alcohol testing could be required).
  • Place orders for trucking and personnel as needed.
We are looking for candidates who have:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum of 5 years running excavators.
  • Municipal rehabilitation, and new development project experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of excavation techniques (earthworks, demolition, remediation / reclamation), underground utilities, understanding grades and survey, equipment, and materials.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in excavation work.
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize activities and allocate resources effectively.
  • The ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Valid driver #39;s license and clean driving record.
