Leading Consultancy focused on civil engineering and design and project management across CanadaOur Client, a leading employee owned civil design consultancy is seeking an Intermediate Civil Engineer to join their growing team in Victoria BC and Edmonton AB.The Client primarily focuses on civil infrastructure projects including:
  • Infrastructure: sewer, water, storm systems; roadworks, pathwaysamp; parks
  • Land Development: subdivision design, site servicing for commercial and multi-family
  • Institutional Buildings: schools, care facilities, universities and sports facilities.
Ideal Candidate:
  • A highly motivated self-starter, capable of working independently with assistance from senior engineering staff. The core requirements for the role are exemplary communication skills and strong technical capabilities covering all aspects of civil design
  • Experience in the design of water, sanitary and storm sewer system, as well as road and site grading design are preferred
  • Ability to assist in the design, project management and contract administration of a wide variety of projects including small and large scale municipal infrastructure and rehabilitation developments, civil site development and other projects
  • Hands-on involvement in preparing studies, designs, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents and will also participate in scheduling, budgeting, tendering, inspection and contract administration for civil infrastructure projects
  • You will be involved in business development and preparation of proposals
  • In addition, you will interact with clients, contractors, and sub-consultants
  • The position brings with it the potential for excellent career growth as you will be involved in many wide ranging and varied projects
  • Travel will be required at times based on project requirements
The Role:
  • Acting as Project Engineer/ Manager on assignments with assistance of Senior Engineers
  • Coordinating technicians and designers to ensure that drawings are accurately prepared and checked
  • Preparing written technical reports including but not limited to feasibility studies, concept design, detailed design, and design criteria reports
  • Performing engineering calculations for sizing and designing water, sewer and drainage systems
  • Performing construction administration/inspection
  • Performing Project Management tasks including communications with clients, managing schedules, budgets and reporting requirements
  • Achieving budget compliance on assigned engineering projects to ensure financial objectives are met or exceeded
  • Participating in marketing strategies and business development with clients to procure business, including writing proposals
  • Communicating effectively and clearly; both verbally and in writing with clients
  • Coordinating sub-consultants’ activity on projects
  • Executing projects in accordance with company guidelines and standards.
What you bring:
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • An undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • A professional licensing with EGBC as a P.Eng., with a minimum of 5-10 years of civil design experience
  • Relevant experience in the undertaking of design, specifications, cost estimating, tendering, and construction
  • Proven technical skills
  • Committed team player
  • Track record in managing clients and developing client relationships
  • Proven people skills for both internal and external clients and the ability to effectively and clearly liaise with clients, both written and verbal.
