We understand that local knowledge and presence are key to not only our overall business success but the economic success of the communities we work in.Career DetailsJob Title: Intermediate Electrical Engineer Number of Openings: 1Job Type: Full-Time/PermanentMinimum Level of Education: Bachelor degreeYears of Related Experience: 7+ yearsLocations to be Supported: EdmontonOffice Location: EdmontonApplication Deadline: Until FilledPosition SummaryWe are seeking an Electrical Engineer with experience in undertaking the design for various industrial projects; such as power distribution, fault analysis, arc flash analysis, area classification, and electrical installation design. The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing construction and commissioning/start-up support on various projects as required.Other responsibilities include:

  • You must be professional, personable, and committed to producing high quality work.
  • Perform engineering calculations for load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, protection sizing, lighting, cable tray fill etc.; and design using both computer-aided and manual design techniques.
  • Develop and validate electrical engineering deliverables such as single line diagrams, grounding layouts, area classification drawings, equipment/lighting/cable tray layouts, schematic diagrams, EHT drawings, standard installation details and equipment/motor lists.
  • Specification, selection and bid tab analysis of electrical equipment.
  • Prepare schedules, estimates, progress reports, meetings, procurement and material forecasts.
  • Coordinate with clients and field construction personnel as required.
  • Perform squad checks of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines.
  • Inspect project sites to monitor work progress and verify compliance with all safety requirements.
  • Perform technical reviews of engineering and design work to verify quality and compliance with project and quality requirements.
  • Assist in audits.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • 7+ years of Electrical Engineering with industrial experience is required.
  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Registered as a P. Eng. with APEGA.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Familiarity with a variety of industrial electrical designs is required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Electrical construction and commissioning experience would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles, and how they can be practically and effectively applied to solve problems.
  • Comfortable working in operating industrial facility environments with appropriate PPE.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning.
