This posting may be used to fill multiple positions.Reporting to the Team Lead, Unix Infrastructure Services, the Senior System Administrator provides system administration for servers that run critical and central University services located on premise and in the public cloud and ensures the availability, efficiency and security of all servers; Works with clients and other teams in preparation for the delivery of new services; Develops and refines procedures and standards for reliable and sustainable operation of servers.DutiesAdministers a large number of Linux servers that run critical and central University services located on premise or in the public Cloud.Ensures that all systems adhere to the team’s technical guidelines and best practices.Develops standards, implementation guidelines for servers - operating systems, security policies, best practicesDevelops and tests disaster recovery plans for critical services to ensure business continuityDesign and develop automation technologies and standards to help with systems administrationWorks with other teams and stakeholders to identify requirements and to design a solution that meets their technological and business needs.Test and modify implemented systems to ensure complete operational accuracy and reliability.Document all aspects of the implementation and ensure the orderly conversion of the implementation to a production level status.Troubleshoots issues affecting users and performs root cause analysis.
