If your values are aligned with our values and beliefs listed at: https://www.boylestreet.org/mission-history, please consider joining our team.Job Purpose:The purpose of this job will be to provide support at the COVID-19 Edmonton Isolation Facility where you will provide support to medical staff working in an isolation unit.KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Take direction from nurses and work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Develop relationships with community members, identifying strengths and working
in a respectful way with a community that has faced trauma and social exclusion
  • De-escalate tense inter-personal and group situations
  • Maintain a healthy environment by learning and adhering to isolation techniques
  • Engage and support community members during a time of crisis
  • Offer support and encouragement for community members to remain in in isolation
  • Address specific client issues to increase accessibility and decrease barriers
Qualifications:Education: Post secondary education in Nursing or health related field as asset.Skills, Abilities and Attitudes:
  • Knows how to problem-solve with people who face emotional and psychological
challenges
  • Ability to learn new skills with a great attention to detail
  • Understands the challenges and stresses facing people who live in poverty
  • Treat people with respect and in a sensitive manner
  • Practicing from a Harm Reduction perspective
  • Able to handle multiple demands at the same time; exceptionally well organized
  • Can de-escalate tense inter-personal and group situations
  • Listens well, has a calm demeanor and knows how to solve practical problems
  • Possess robust mental health and a commitment to self-care
Experience and other requirements:
  • Experience working with Indigenous peoples and individuals from diverse cultures
  • Experience in a Health care setting
  • Experience working with marginalized communities is an asset
  • Criminal Record and Child Intervention Checks (results will be reviewed on a case by case basis)
