Job Description

Your Opportunity:The Cancer Care EMR team is seeking an enthusiastic individual to provide support for the Connect Care - Beacon application. We are looking for someone to bring their unique skills to our team and be eager to learn the business processes and needs of the customers we support. Reporting to the Manager, Cancer Care EMR & Applications, and working with clinical and administrative staff across the province, as well as vendors, AHS IT and external service providers. The Beacon Analyst is responsible for the development, implementation, support, and maintenance of Epic Systems Oncology Application. The Connect Care - Beacon Application is implemented at Cancer Care facilities and oncology/hematology departments throughout the province. Works independently, with guidance only in complex situations, to ensure reliable operation of the Beacon Application. Provides application support for all components within Beacon Application to all Oncology users throughout the province. Builds and maintains Beacon Oncology Treatment (chemotherapy) Protocols in coordination with other Treatment Protocol build stakeholders. Troubleshoots complex application issues, develops innovative solutions, and implements strategies to resolve problems. Uses best practices and knowledge of clinical operations and the application to find solutions to user needs. Documents and analyzes current business processes and restructures processes to facilitate the implementation of Connect Care / Beacon functionality and ensures EMR implementation supports patient care. Coordinates and executes application testing for upgrades and works with project teams responsible for implementation of upgrades in the production environment. Works with vendors, cross functional teams, and clients to design, develop and implement interfaces between the EMR and other clinical applications.Description:As an IT Analyst II, you will provide technical support related to information technology applications either directly to users of the systems or to service delivery functions. You will ensure reliable operations of information systems, resolve complex technical problems, find solutions to customer needs, and lead projects and program initiatives. You will be responsible for more advanced application, telecom or technology support duties. You will investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex problems that have typically been escalated several levels before assignment to this position, and will translate business requirements into technical requirements for a solution and recommend a potential approach to the vendor. You will analyse the solution provided to ensure that it fits both technical requirements and business needs. You will also spend time on project or initiative leadership and delivery.

Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent.Additional Required Qualifications:Minimum 5 years related work experience. Working knowledge of healthcare, preferably in an oncology setting; understands patient care dependencies with the work performed. Experience with business processes redesign and mapping of processes. Experience leading projects, preferably in a health care or hospital environment. Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Self-motivated, focused, independent and productive, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. Demonstrates strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work under time constraints and to work on multiple projects concurrently. Ability to develop and present material for informational and educational purposes.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with EMRs, specifically oncology EMRs; and chemotherapy protocol programming would be an asset.
