We understand that local knowledge and presence are key to not only our overall business success but the economic success of the communities we work in.Career DetailsJob Title: Junior Electrical/Instrumentation Technologist.Number of Openings: 1Job Type: Full-Time/ContractMinimum Level of Education: Instrumentation Technician/NAIT Electrical Engineering Technology DiplomaOffice Location: Secondment (Edmonton area)Application Deadline: Until FilledPosition SummaryWe are seeking a Junior Electrical/Instrumentation (E amp;I) Technologist to support in a secondment position in the Edmonton area.This position will assist in the coordination, successful implementation and completion of projects. The successful candidate will report to the Electrical/Instrumentation Manager.Responsibilities include:

  • Performing Construction Management for subcontractors in the field with instrument and electrical installations.
  • Ensuring daily Labour, Equipment and Materials (LEMs) are accurate, signed, and submitted to the Project Manager.
  • Preparing and reviewing ongoing field progress and inspection reports throughout the lifecycle of the construction phase.
  • Maintaining tracking logs for purchase requisitions, project scope changes, RFIs, change orders, etc.
  • Assisting in the tracking of progress and quality of work being performed by subcontractors, suppliers, and field trades.
  • Effectively and accurately communicating relevant project information to the client and project team.
  • Assisting the Construction Services Manager with drafting and issuance of project RFPs, tenders, budgets, cash flows, and progress invoicing.
  • Providing critical information to the Construction Services Manager in the issuance of contracts, letters of intent, purchase orders, etc.
  • Coordinating and generating Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Assisting the Construction Services Manager in the review of contractor quotations to ensure that only fair and reasonable pricing is recommended for approval and prepare subcontractor bid comparison tables as needed.
  • Reviewing client contract change documents to verify accuracy and completeness.
  • Attending client meetings as required.
  • Monitoring all assigned electrical/instrumentation maintenance activities to ensure they are executed safely and efficiently.
  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing measuring and control devices.
  • Maintaining/repairing power distribution systems.
  • Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing Gas Detection, LEL Detection, and Fire Detection systems.
  • Assembling all supporting documents, drawings, and procedures for work scope execution.
  • Using proactive forecasting, data analysis, and quality control methods to ensure compliance against regulatory, environmental, and assessed-risk requirements.
  • Providing constructability support with internal and external design partners.
  • Working with ONEC project teams to fully integrate the E amp;I group into ONEC projects.
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Instrumentation Technician/NAIT Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma
  • 2-3 Years experience in related field.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Projects and Primavera schedules is considered an asset.
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.
  • Self-starter requiring minimal supervision with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong communicator: able to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet quality standards.
  • Legally allowed to operate a company vehicle within Canada without restrictions.
  • Able and willing to visit remote work locations as required.
