Your Opportunity:As a Laboratory Scientist I (LSI), your discerning eye, analytical mind, and critical thinking skills help doctors, patients, and families get the information they need to identify, treat, and make decisions about genetic diseases or disorders. Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is currently seeking a LSI (Clinical Genetics Technologist) to join the Genetics and Genomics team at the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH). As the LSI, you will provide technical expertise and perform both routine and specialized work processing patient samples for the Edmonton Molecular Genetics Laboratory. In this role, you will be performing and interpreting complex molecular testing for various genetic conditions using established diagnostic procedures on extracted DNA. Possessing previous experience and specialized skills in molecular testing techniques, you will be responsible for casework involving molecular testing, interpretation and variant analysis, including complex Next Generation Sequence cases. Working in a team environment, you will participate in the general operation of the lab as well as test method development and evaluation, supervision of lab support staff and will be involved in clinical laboratory accreditation.
