Tenure agreements with the Province allow companies to explore for and develop PNG resources in Alberta. Mineral agreements are typically purchased through the land sale for two to five years and may include rights to all depths or certain geological formations. License validation or agreement continuation is required in order for companies to continue to hold mineral rights within the Province of Alberta.For more information about the Ministry of Energy, visit our website at:RoleThe Continuation and Validation unit of the PNG Tenure Operations Branch has a permanent LA2 position.Reporting directly to the Team Lead of the unit, the Land Analyst will respond to industry requests and review continuation and validation applications received from oil and gas companies. The successful candidate will create or amend Petroleum and Natural Gas mineral agreements in accordance with the applicable authorities, following department policy and procedures. They will provide technical advice and expertise for the review and analysis of agreement files processed by the unit. The land analyst will also process financial transactions, and provides statistics to the team lead to support the day to day operations of the unit.The Land Analyst requires strong interpretation skills and expert knowledge to effectively apply legislation that governs all work processed by the unit. The successful candidate must be able to work within tight timelines and exercise discretion when responding to continuation applications and industry phone calls. The ideal candidate must have good verbal and written communication skills.The Land Analyst plays a key role by assisting the Team Lead build a strong collaborative team environment within the Continuation and Validation unit and strong relationships with Alberta’s oil and gas industry. The successful candidate acts as an innovator when examining work processes and when required provides background information and advice to the Team Leads, Manager or Director.QualificationsGrade 12 diploma with three years related experience. Post-Secondary education in land administration or a related program is considered an asset.Preference may be given to candidates with directly related work experience in oil and gas land administration. Candidates must be proficient in MS Office Suite.One year certificate in a related field plus one year progressively responsible related experience including completion of in-service, full-time six-month training program at Level 1; or equivalent as described below.Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.Assets
