Please indicate your internal status using the "Advertisement" drop down menu when applying.This position offers a comprehensive benefits package which can be viewed at: Faculty & Staff Benefits.Reporting to the Faculty General Manager, the Learning Technology Specialist provides support for the Facultys distributed learning model (synchronous and asynchronous program delivery to satellite campuses), e-learning initiatives and consultation to individual instructors on integrating instructional technology into the teaching and learning environment.Responsibilities:

  • Provides videoconferencing support to research, alumni engagement and student focused activities.
  • Provides end-user support, develops and delivers e-learning professional development programs, and collaborates with the academic staff in online course development.
  • Provides technical support to faculty, staff, and students, on- and off-campus, in areas related to the use of distributed education technology (currently Lifesize) and e-learning systems.
  • Provides best practices and troubleshooting on distributed education technology. Escalating technical issues to IST as required.
  • Assists with equipment testing, setup, support, and bookings for instructional, operational, research, outreach, and conference activities.
  • Participates in the evaluation of e-learning projects and initiatives.
  • Assists with eClass requests and administration including uploads of computer based educational materials to the e-learning course management system.
  • Recommends process and work-flow strategies that address changes in technology.
  • Assists with set up, administration and troubleshooting for online exams in all programs.
  • Liaises with other university departments such as CTL on technical and e-learning support issues.
  • Recommends and provides education sessions on best practice process and procedures for blended, online, and virtual learning environments by drawing on knowledge of and experience with e-learning technologies.
  • Participates in testing and evaluation of new technologies to enhance the Learning environment.
  • Provides resource information relating to new techniques and practices relevant to the use of technology and that enable faculty and students to use technology as a learning tool.
  • Assists with the creation of documentation and other digital resources (manuals, tutorials, interactive components and others as required) for workshops, seminars, and other training situations that may be provided either face-to-face or online.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum High School Diploma; a 2 year diploma or certificate would be an asset.
  • 2 years directly related experience in technology-enhanced educational environments.
  • Advanced computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software applications and video conferencing systems.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Exposure to Learning Management Systems (as a student, or preferably as an instructor or teaching assistant).
  • Familiarity with HTML.
  • Experience with Dreamweaver/Macromedia Studio or comparable web and graphic design software.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written); interpersonal & presentation skills.
  • Strong project management, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, ability to make timely decisions and act on individual initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
