Job Description

Role Summary:Flowserve is looking for an apprentice machinist at our Quick Response Center in Edmonton. Our machinists operate conventional machines to manufacture mechanical seal components used in various rotating equipment such as pumps, mixers and autoclaves from various industries. The machinists analyze specifications, set-up and operate machines, and maintain machines. The machinists are part of a production team who work together to troubleshoot problems and meet demanding deadlines.This is a second shift position , at our clean, well-organized Quick Response Center in Edmonton, AB.NEW HIRES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR UP TO A $2000 SIGN ON BONUS! APPLY TO FIND OUT MORE!Responsibilities & Requirements: Responsibilities:

  • Machine new parts and repairs to Flowserve and customer specifications in a timely manner with minimum or no errors while ensuring safe and organized working environment at all times
  • Quality: Manufacture quality product with zero defects on a consistent basis.
  • Productivity: Operate machine shop equipment efficiently. Manufacture or repair product on time as defined by the production schedule.
  • Continuous Improvement (CIP). Consistently demonstrate behaviors that promote facility enhancement and improvement. Acquire training for all machines as needed.
  • Run all machinery in the shop. Housekeeping: Maintain clean and well organized work areas at all times. Maintain all tooling and machinery for efficient and safe operation. Perform regular machinery and equipment maintenance in the shop. Document all maintenance performed.
  • Ensure all personal measuring equipment is calibrated and documented as per the requirements’ of our Quality program. Assist in maintaining internal equipment calibrations and documenting as required in both the shop and Field. Complete a final inspection on all parts, stamp heat codes and part numbers in both the shop and Field.
  • Adhere to all Safety Procedures & Policy. Complete all Pure Safety and other safety training as required
  • Inspection on all parts, mark heat codes and part numbers.
  • Work to achieve company production goals on time delivery objectives.
  • Adhere to and maintain quality work practices, qualifications, and procedures
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Candidates with apprenticeship will be given preference
  • Must be able to work within close tolerances
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and drawings
  • Skilled in using precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges
  • Skilled in the use of cranes and lifts to move heavy equipment. Forklift certification desirable
  • Must show a customer-service mindset at all times
  • Able to communicate clearly so as to explain and resolve problems. Must be able to read and understand instructions
  • Demonstrated track record of a reliable work ethic with a personal commitment to quality workmanship
  • Able to work overtime and weekends as required on short notice
  • Standing for long times required, repetitive arm motions, frequent pushing and lifting with occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to travel to the US
Preferred Experience / Skills:
  • Experience in Manual machining
  • Experience with Haas Milling Machines or Mazak Machining on 5th axis machine are preferred
  • Forklift certification desirable
  • Ensure the quarterly equipment maintenance program is carried out
