Job Description

Management Supervisor, Neighbourhood ServicesJob Number : 44765Help make Edmonton neighbourhoods be the best that they can be!As a Management Supervisor in Neighbourhood Services, you will provide strategic vision, leadership and guidance to support the delivery of highly visible programs and services offered to citizens. You will lead front line staff that work with citizens in their neighbourhoods to promote a culture of civic engagement, enhanced neighbourhood capacity and vibrancy, and investment in revitalization initiatives.With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments of Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, as a Municipal Enforcement Officer you will:

  • Develop and implement shared visions and integrated neighbourhood plans and services
  • Develop and implement strategic and business plans, including change management processes
  • Supervise 8 to 12 direct reports, including hiring, training, coaching, staff development and conducting regular performance reviews
  • Anticipate, manage and prevent potential issues involving multiple stakeholders
  • Align resources necessary for delivering services to achieve neighbourhood and corporate outcomes
  • Scan the environment for future improvement and integration opportunities
  • Exemplify the City’s cultural commitments and community development principles
  • Respond to citizen, councillor and media inquiries in a timely manner
  • Develop positive relationships and integrated approaches with other business units and organizations
  • Collaborate with Contract Management to procure contracted services, determine and assign work and specifications and oversee contractor performance
  • Oversee OH&S and Enviso (environmental) requirements
Qualifications :
  • Applied knowledge, formal training and/or education in Business Administration, Commerce, Leadership, Recreation Administration, Community Development, Social Work or other related discipline
  • Progressivley responsible operational planning experience and managing operational teams, which includes hiring, training, coaching and performance management ; 5 years experience or more is preferred
  • Progressive xperience in asset based community development, community organizing, capacity building, parks and recreation, and other community services
  • Demonstrated political acumen
  • Ability to understand, interpret, develop and deliver City of Edmonton policies and programs
  • Excellent process and project management skills
  • Skilled in developing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Ability to make accurate, timely decisions and recommendations
  • Experience and skills in facilitation, strategic planning, problem solving and conflict resolution
  • Ability to seek and manage multiple competing perspectives and priorities
  • Actively seeks opportunities to improve and innovate
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to respond to media inquiries in consultation with the Director and Communications staff
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s license (or provincial equivalent). Must obtain business auto insurance for personal vehicle use while on City business
