Job Description

Manager, Facility Services - Facility Services Division Temporary until Oct 13, 2023Job Number : 44789Make your favourite place your workplace!With buildings as diverse as our services, facilities management at Edmonton Public Library is never dull! If you’ve been searching for a challenging opportunity to apply your facilities expertise and strong customer service abilities, then look no further.In this varied role, you will manage the workflow for all maintenance issues and work requisitions for our 19 branches throughout Edmonton. Specifically, you will address current and future building needs through regular inspections and define the scope of work for major and minor property maintenance and repair projects. You are a self-starter with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously within a fast-paced environment.You are a problem solver with budgeting experience and proven knowledge of building and project management. Well maintained buildings are essential to our business and a key function of your position will be working with contracted services to ensure that EPL’s janitorial and security contracts are strictly adhered to. From a safety perspective, you are knowledgeable of fire, life, and safety procedures and you will participate in the development of our tenants’ Emergency Operating Procedures.Customer service is paramount to everything that we do at EPL. As the ideal candidate, your excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution abilities combined with your highly developed sense of tact and diplomacy will be your anchor in this position. You will build relationships with internal customers, key contacts at the City of Edmonton, and a variety of contractors. As a proven leader, you will manage and supervise a team while ensuring that divisional goals are prioritized and achieved.Qualifications :

  • Completion of related post-secondary education. Designation with BOMI or IFMA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited green building certification program is an asset
  • A minimum of 7 years of related experience in day-to-day facility operations/property management including 3 years of demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint and Outlook)
What do you need to bring to this position
  • Knowledge of applicable standards, codes & regulations such as OH&S, Building and Fire codes
  • Knowledge of facility management operations and ability to manage and coordinate private security contracts, including providing training to familiarize security personnel with EPL’s core values, security strategy and life safety systems
  • Knowledge of both custodial and security operations and services to support the effective management of EPL’s contract
  • Knowledge of Building Management Systems and DDC Controls
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to manage internal maintenance programs for demand and preventative maintenance
  • Effective organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to unforeseen project challenges and facility emergencies. Effective with re-prioritizing work to ensure critical items are addressed in a timely manner.

  • This position will share 24-7 on-call duties with the Director, Facility Services on a week on, week off basis.
  • Satisfactory background screening is required for this position which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.
  • Candidates require a valid Alberta Driver’s License and a private vehicle to travel to various EPL facilities.
