Highlights of the jobWe are hiring a full-time permanent Manager, Project Controls position to join the Drainage Services, Project Management team working out of our Coronation site located in Edmonton, Alberta.As the Manager, Project Controls, you will collaborate with multiple stakeholders and lead multi-discipline teams to plan, design and execute the delivery of multiple small to medium sized drainage capital projects with low levels of complexity or assist senior level project managers in managing large, complex projects, from inception to execution. The Manager, Project Controls is accountable for executing projects that meet the budget, schedule, and quality, through sound engineering and project management principles and practices, leadership and interpersonal skills.This opportunity is accepting applications from both current EPCOR Employees and external applicants.What you’d be responsible forThe Manager, Project Controls is accountable to Senior Manager, Project Management, and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by the Senior Manager, Project Management. Key accountabilities while on the role include, but are not limited to:Assembling and managing diverse project teams to achieve project objectives. The project team may include external and internal resources.Developing scope statement based on project objectives and assessing design needs of project with designer.Planning and managing design and safe construction of capital projects, involving:Developing project management plansLeading and executing project management plans to achieve project objectivesConducting periodic site visits and performing site safety audits/inspections/observationsDeveloping project management plansPreparing schedule and cost estimatesPreparing cash-flow forecastsCompleting value engineering, risk assessments and constructability reviewsDeveloping and implementing public engagement strategiesResponsible for the control of safety, quality, costs, and schedule of the projects and reporting of these elementsEnsuring project sponsors and key stakeholders are engaged, consulted and informed through timely communications, reports and interactions.Coordinating procurement activities, preparing procurement documents and evaluation plans, evaluating responses and making recommendations for award of work.Coordinating project execution activities involving:Administering contractsResolving issues and developing key decisions by applying technical knowledge, negotiating skills and project management principlesIncorporating input from stakeholders into designs and construction plansConducting contractor safety managementAssigning Prime Contractor responsibility as appropriateMonitoring, controlling and managing project activities in a structured and coordinated manner.Making timely adjustments using sound project management principles to ensure overall targets are achieved or exceeded.Managing capital program budgets within specific asset groups to ensure capital plans are met.What’s required to be successfulYou will have the following qualifications, experience and behaviours:Education and Experience:Completion of post-secondary education from a recognized post-secondary educational institute in either:Bachelor degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Environmental, Civil Engineering degree is preferred)Engineer-in Training (E.I.T.) designation with APEGADiploma in an Engineering Technology program (Civil Engineering Technology); or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) designation with ASET.Minimum of 2 years of experience with a C.E.T. designation, in design, construction, and project management.Coursework or certification in project management, leadership, team building, and communications or construction management are valuable assets.Knowledge and Technical SkillsDemonstrable knowledge:and experience of project management, negotiation and delivery process at all project phases from initiation to close-out.of drainage engineering design and construction.Proven ability to:Analyze technical information and make timely, well-rationalized decisions.Conduct cost estimating and cost-benefit analysis, lead groups of people (internal and external), and prepare accurate monthly reports showing all aspects of the project.Learn and use software and technology as required, to effectively deliver projects and complete necessary reportingPossess exceptional work prioritization skills and are confident with making adjustments regularly and addressing issues promptly.A valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License (with 6 demerits or less). A Driver Abstract may be required.
