Job Description

JOB VACANCY Full-time Position Position: DEPARTMENT MANAGER-Meat/deli/bakery Reports to: Leigh Anne WilliamsLocation: Heritage FreshCo, Edmonton, AB, T6J 4V9Overview: **__**Responsible for the overall operation of the department including sales, profitability, productivity and its general appearance. The Meat department includes the sale of meat, bakery and deli. Manages department employees, deals with customers and with sales representatives from various companies.Responsibilities: Maximizes sales and profit objectives by implementing marketing and merchandising programs.Oversees merchandising displays, maintains product levels by stocking shelves and monitoring product inventory.

  • Manages department staff by hiring, scheduling, providing work direction, reviewing performance and providing feedback and conducting disciplinary procedures.
  • Performs administrative duties including signing time statements for payroll, ordering product, and producing sales, purchase and manager’s reports.
  • Maintains inventory levels by counting stock, ordering and receiving product, and checking invoices.
  • Provides customer service by responding to their inquiries and resolving issues.
  • Maintains operating policies and procedures by reviewing, updating, and enforcing compliance with legislated requirements (e.g., Food Safety and Health & Safety), and by training staff.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications/Skills: High school diploma plus two (2) years’ experience as a meat Clerk or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of meat/bakery/deli products
  • Sound understanding of inventory control and gross profit projections.
  • Good understanding of Food Safety and Health and Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of FreshCo policies and procedures
  • Strong interpersonal skills including attention to detail, time management and ability to multi-task
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to hire, train and coach staff
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job
