Member Experiences Coordinator 3 permanent and 1 temporary for up to 18 monthsJob Number : 44593Do you know how to make an instant connection with both new and experienced recreation centre users Are you a natural leader Are you always one step aheadThe City of Edmonton is looking for an approachable, independent problem-solver to join the Program and Events Team as a Member Experiences Coordinator. You will draw on your fitness and service expertise to lead a team of front-line staff to create a welcoming, educational, and meaningful experience for customers that utilize City operated fitness facilities, and assist with the planning, development and implementation of programs and services to increase member retention and customer satisfaction. You will be challenged with competing deadlines, working out of and managing staff in multiple locations across the city and solving complex issues that arise out of customer needs and concerns.A high level of independence, interpersonal skills and flexibility will be required as you:

  • Develop, deliver, monitor, and evaluate programs and services that focus on member onboarding and member retention within established registration, revenue, and expenditure guidelines
  • Recruit, hire, train, mentor, supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers
  • Monitor customer usage patterns, trends and feedback of service users. Follow up on customer concerns and comments on Recreation and Physical Activity programs and forward to supervisor when appropriate
  • Prepare and distribute program publicity/promotional material according to facility/unit promotions plan
  • Coordinate facilities and supplies required for the program. Liaise with organizations, agencies and individuals for specific programs and events
  • Develop program within established registration, revenue and expenditure guidelines
  • Actively contribute to and support section, branch and department initiatives
Qualifications :
  • Degree or Diploma in Recreation/Leisure/Physical Education or other related discipline
  • Training in program development specific to Recreation Facilities
  • A minimum one year experience in program development and delivery, including special event planning, customer service, and hiring, mentoring, supervising and evaluating staff
  • Ability to supervise a large number of staff, many of whom may work at different locations/times
  • A minimum of one year experience in customer service or sales including an ability to recognize and tailor each client interaction to the needs of the individual
  • Knowledge and understanding of the recreation and physical activity industry, customer retention principles, and customer service standards and methods
  • Highly developed and demonstrated facilitation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multi task and work independently and as part of a team
  • Must be flexible and adaptable as required to respond to challenges related to daily programs and services
  • Computer proficiency in Google apps and MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and Taleo is an asset
  • Possession of current certification from one of the following, or equivalent is an asset:
    • Alberta Fitness Leader Certificate (AFLCA) - Certified Fitness Trainer
    • CanFit Pro - Personal Training Specialist
    • Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) - Certified Personal Trainer
  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C is a requirement of this position
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent). Must obtain business auto insurance for personal vehicle use on City business
