These technology platforms are a critical part of our internal business and external customer service delivery, and demand agility, technical expertise, proactivity and a relentless focus on reliability. We have an exciting opportunity for a visionary self-starter to lead our national team to new heights of service excellence and technology transformation.Here’s the impact you’ll make and what we’ll accomplish togetherYou will lead a team of highly-skilled System Administrators to maintain a best-in-class standard of service reliability for our diverse enterprise compute platforms. In partnership with TELUS International support partners, your team will manage the lifecycle of platform deployment, proactive maintenance, break/fix resolution, and technology evolution, including the migration to external cloud environments. You will partner with internal application teams to deliver critical compute resources in a timely fashion and with rigorous high-availability architectures, and protect those assets through anti-malware support, privileged account management and Active Directory ownership. In an ongoing quest to drive cost efficiency and focus on valuable effort, your team will seek out and address underutilized assets, aging infrastructure, and inefficient processes.Heres How:

  • Inspire, develop and support team members to drive high performance and team engagement
  • Solve problems and handle escalation in a collaborative and constructive manner
  • Seek out opportunities to improve processes though reducing toil, increasing automation, and focusing on value-added effort
  • Champion the discovery, development and adoption of new enterprise compute technology and toolsets, including cloud platforms and IaaS
  • Foster a culture of reliability by prioritizing proactive maintenance activity, legacy systems retirement, and rigorous change management
  • Deliver effective incident management through a bias towards rapid resolution, blameless post mortems and recurrence elimination
  • Drive accountability with vendor partners and internal stakeholders to meet or exceed our high standards for reliability, technology modernization and change management
You’re the missing piece of the puzzle
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective engagement with vendor partners, senior leadership, and business collaborators, especially pertaining to technical concepts and processes
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of:
    • enterprise compute platforms and support processes, including Cisco, Oracle, HP, IBM, as well as hypervisors such as VMWare
    • enterprise operating systems, including Windows Server, Linux, Solaris and AIX
    • Microsoft Active Directory architectures and operating procedures
    • Third party cloud (esp. Google Cloud Platform) topologies, services (eg. GCE, Cloud Storage, GKE, IAM, monitoring), and support engagement processes
    • Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) concepts and technologies, including GitHub and Terraform
  • Proven capability in resource and objective prioritization, goal setting and progress tracking
  • Natural curiosity and affinity for self-directed technology learning
  • 8+ years of work experience in technology, technical project management, IT operations, or software development
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field and/or relevant experience
Great to haves
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and programming languages (Java, HTML/CSS, Python)
  • Familiarity with database concepts, maintenance requirements and performance characteristics, particularly in Oracle and MS SQL Server
