We strive to provide our employees with meaningful and challenging work, and an engaging and collaborative environment.Michels Canada headquarters is based in Nisku, Alberta, Canada.DESCRIPTIONMichels Canada is looking for an MTBM (Micro Tunnel Boring Machine) Mechanic to support our tunneling and trenchless operations and conduct repairs and routine maintenance as required. In this role, you will work with the equipment superintendent, MTBM Mechanic and our MTBM Operators to complete inspections, repairs, fabrication and rebuilding of MTBM and general construction related equipment. This position requires you to maintain a positive and professional attitude, while upholding our commitment to safety at all times. This position is based in Nisku, AB. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers. Follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
  • Perform highly skilled and complex repairs to industry specific, heavy, and light duty construction equipment.
  • Perform the duties of a mechanic performing hands on repairs in the yard and on site.
  • Inspect and analyze equipment to recommend a repair plan and schedule.
  • Analyze and repair mechanical failures.
  • Record, file, and maintain records, reports, and daily work-related documentations.
  • Other duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Journeyperson trade certificate in relevant field such as Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic or other related discipline.
  • Must be able to work in deep shafts (20+ meters) and narrow confined spaced (1.2m in diamater) for duration of shift
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Must be able to work outside year round in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to regularly life and/or move 50 pounds and frequently life and/or move up to 55 pounds
  • Must have strong organization and communication skills.
  • Must possess a friendly attitude with a team player mindset.
  • Must demonstrate personal value commitment to safety
DESIRED SKILLSamp; QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience troubleshooting Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems; experience with Allen Bradley PLC systems is an asset
  • Experience working on tunnel boring machines is an asset
  • Experience working with Herrenknecht equipment and parts is an asset
  • Experience working on Derrick parts and equipment is an asset
  • Experience working on Mission 2500 pumps is an asset
  • Experience with structural welding is an asset.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work well with others in a team setting as well as independently with limited supervision.
EDUCATION
  • Journeyperson trade certificate in relevant field such as Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic or other related discipline.
LANGUAGES
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
