Join CASA Mental Health in shaping a brighter future for children, youth and families by providing them with timely mental health care and empowering them to thrive.Job DetailsWage range: $38.51 to $48.97 per hourShift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per dayPrimary location: CASA Fort RoadUnion: In-scopeClassification: Occupational TherapistFTE: 0.6 (21.75 hours per week)Status: Permanent​About the RoleCASA Classrooms are CASA’s new model for school-based mental health service. The program addresses the need for services closer to students by bridging a child’s mental health and school needs, through a coordinated approach by a mental health team and a teacher. CASA Classrooms are delivered in partnership with the Government of Alberta, community partners and school divisions.The Occupational Therapist will:

  • Complete screening and standardized assessment of deficits in fine motor, gross motor, sensory and related disorders.
  • Provide occupational therapy services to support patients within their classroom environment.
  • Interpret test results in conjunction with other related medical, behavioural and educational information to identify motor and related disorders.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in treatment planning, including the development of individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Determine appropriate diagnostic instruments to use with each patient.
  • Provide information and recommendations to assist others in understanding the clinical condition and ongoing care and management.
  • Consult and provide advice and educational services to patients and families regarding fine motor, gross motor and related disorders.
  • Act as a resource and provide supportive training to team members to assist in their professional development.
  • Participate in the development of children’s mental health teaching and resource materials.
  • Travel between CASA sites and partner school board sites in Edmonton and surrounding area.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in occupational therapy.
  • Active registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
  • A minimum of three years of pediatric experience.
  • Mental health experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based occupational therapy assessment and intervention practices for children and adolescents.
  • Experience working with children and youth with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties in community-based, school-based and/or day program settings.
  • Proficiency in treatment planning, goal writing, treatment evaluation and report writing.
