Job Description

Title: Operations and Development ManagerPosition: Permanent - 30 hours per week with flexible hoursSalary Range: $30.50 to $33.50 per hourLocation: Hybrid working arrangement between head office and a home officeThe Edmonton Youth Justice Committee is hiring for the position of Operations and DevelopmentManager. This is permanent position with a flexible hour structure of up to 30 hours per week. Some evening and weekend work is required. The ideal candidate is well rounded in all aspects of Non Profit management within a volunteer supported organization.EYJCS provides a restorative Justice circle process for youth ages 12 to 17 and young adults ages 18 to 24 who have been referred to us though the Court System. The Edmonton Youth Justice Committee Society(EYJCS) is sanctioned by the Alberta Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General to work within the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act for ages 12 to 17 and to work with 18- to 24-year-olds under the Alternative Measures program. Through our restorative justice circle process, we help youth and young adults accept responsibility for their actions and to repair the harm resulting from their actions.We have a strong commitment to community development through restorative justice principles.The Operations and Development Manage position involves working the EYJC Board, managing the daily operations of EYJC, supervising a team of 3 staff, managing the Volunteer program and fund development and grant writing activities, relationship building and communicating with stakeholders.The work of the Edmonton Youth Justice Committee Society contributes to building a better, safer societyKEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY This position manages the daily operations of the organization and works closely with the Board and all of the committees.1. Coordinate and provide support to the EYJCS Board of Directors and committees2. Management and supervision of the Area Coordinators3. Manage the fund development activities of EYJC in conjunction with the Funds developmentCommittee4. Manage and support the volunteer program5. Provide monthly reports to the Board6. Preform other duties as requiredREQUIREMENTS In this hybrid working arrangement, the home office space must have a secure area in which confidential files can be locked securely without access by other people. As a part of unique team, you are required to collaborate, problem solve and support co-workers, the board, committees and stakeholders.

  • Commit to the vision and purpose of the EYJCS
  • Be self-directed while being able to take direction in maintaining open and effective oral and written communications with the Board, the staff, the volunteers and other stake holders
  • Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills through attention to detail, prioritize tasks with conflicting work demands and keeping knowledge and skills current.
  • Working knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act and the Alberta Government’s Policies and
Procedures, relating to the Extrajudicial Sanctions Program and the Alternative Measures program
  • Work effectively with a diverse team of staff and volunteers
  • Computer literacy is required and an ability to troubleshoot basic IT issues that arise
Position Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years Non profit management experience, including working with the Board and committees. Equivalencies will be considered
  • Bachelor’s degree in management, equivalencies of experience and education will be considered
  • Experience in managing volunteer programs
  • Experience in fund development and grant writing
  • Knowledge and experience in policy and procedure development
  • Knowledge of the Youth Justice Criminal Act and Restorative Justice practices
  • Knowledge of Province of Alberta privacy laws and other provincial and/or federal legislation that impacts the operations of a non profit organization
  • Familiarity with child abuse, neglect and sexual exploitation and the procedures involved in reporting this situation to the respective authority
