Located in Edmonton and Calgary, the Jubilee Auditoria are twin multi-purpose Performing Arts Facilities which can accommodate 2,500 patrons.The Auditoria are owned by the Government of Alberta and operate in partnership with Alberta Infrastructure and Alberta Culture.The iconic Jubilee Auditoria have had numerous upgrades over the years enabling them to keep their status as two of the finest venues in North America. The Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium (NAJA) is a world class facility which is home to permanent resident companies such as Edmonton Opera, Alberta Ballet, and Shumka Dancers. The Jubilee also supports diverse professional and community-based programming and events such as Broadway shows, comedians, rock concerts, charity events, cultural shows, dance festivals, High School/College and University graduations.RoleThis exciting position, in a fast paced environment, might be what you are looking for!! We are an enthusiastic, goal-oriented, innovative and knowledgeable team looking for you to join us!You will be reporting to the Jubilee Auditoria General Manager and will provide leadership and direction to the technical and theatrical operations of the Northern and Southern Jubilee Auditoria of Alberta.On behalf of the Ministry branch, you will coordinate with patrons, clients (including commercial promoters, community groups, Resident Companies and others), Alberta Jubilee Auditoria Society (AJAS), Alberta Infrastructure and their building management contractors, cross-ministry branches and other entertainment venues regarding all aspects of the Jubilee Auditoria’s operations.This position requires specialized theatrical technical expertise to successfully coordinate processes and services in both venues.You will:

  • Serve as the senior manager on-site at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditoria (NAJA) on a day-to-day basis, providing direction and feedback to Government of Alberta (GOA) staff, Property Management, AJAS Staff, venue clients and patrons as required.
  • Lead and supervise Technical Coordinators, split between Calgary and Edmonton, in the fields of audio, lighting and stage, in departmental planning, maintenance, and purchasing of theatrical equipment within a defined budget, to ensure the Auditoria remain industry-leading facilities.
  • Development, deployment and maintenance of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and emergency preparedness plans in collaboration with other occupying departments.
  • At the branch level, provide input to policy development, strategic and operational planning and reporting initiatives that are essential to the operation and development of the Auditoria and its relationships to clients and stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for infrastructure-related projects at the Auditoria, including identifying and coordinating activities affecting all aspects of facility operations.
QualificationsUniversity graduation in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by four years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis. Experience in venue management is preferred.Knowledge required for the position:
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of the entertainment industry trends in performing arts venue management, including significant knowledge of technical and theatrical equipment and practices.
  • A solid understanding of client and patron services, ticketing, security, risk management, human resource management, finance, strategic planning, building operations, automation and maintenance.
  • Training or willingness to acquire training in OH&S within the GOA environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills (verbal, non-verbal and written)
Assets:
  • Experience with effective interpersonal and management skills
  • Experience with project management
  • An understanding of RFP processes and contract management.
  • An understanding of entertainment unions and the ability to transpose the terms of the collective bargaining agreements into language suitable for clients.

Salary$3062.51 to $4121.25 bi-weekly: ($79,931 - $107,564 / year)NotesHours of work are 36.25 hours weekly.This is a permanent full time position.In your resume, please include dates (including months and years) associated with all education and work experience.
