About the roleAll progress begins with pioneers. At Rio Tinto, it begins with you.We are looking for a Process Operator to contribute to the success of a safe and efficient calciner operation. The Process Operator oversees and manages the full production process of the Calciner. This includes monitoring equipment to ensure the quality, efficiency and safety of the plant.This role is a great entry-level opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to work safely and intelligently, and building on their existing industrial experience and equipment operation skills. This role is typical to a 4 year or less progression depending on experience and learning capacity – fully trained operators will rotate between yard and board operator duties. We do the work only if it is safe, and we invest to make sure every member of the team has the quality tools they need to do their job.Reporting to the Operations Supervisor and working a rotating 12-hour shift roster (combination of days/nights/weekends), you will be:Actively engaging in safety initiatives promoting the “Zero Harm” safety cultureResponding to non-routine or emergency conditions, and initiating emergency response plans according to protocolsOperating large wheel loaders, rail equipment, small mobile equipment (forklift, skid steer)Unloading and loading rail cars of raw and outbound finished product – effectively planning and executing workflow of rail traffic on sitePerforming process plant inspections.
