Your Opportunity:This is an exciting opportunity at the Strathcona Community Hospital. The facility offers a 24/7 Emergency Department and a variety of Ambulatory, Laboratory, and Diagnostic Imaging services. An LPN/Orthopedic Technician delivers quality nursing care to patients within the Emergency Department. Responsibilities include (but not limited to) general cast duties, set up and application of traction, maintaining and removal of traction. Effective teaching to orthopedic patients in care, and use of casts and orthopedic appliances, and all other general LPN duties related to this area.Description:As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications:Successful completion and certification of a recognized Orthopedic Technician program, with specific authorization from CLPNA to practice in the area of orthopedic. Minimum one year experience in general orthopedic duties, in an emergency/acute care setting is required.Preferred Qualifications:Maintains competencies outlined in legislation and profession through continuous learning. Balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities. Work within a team environment and effectively contribute to patient planning processes. Strong assessment and communication skills (verbal and written).
