Description: The Parks Manager will be responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all Summerside Residents Association (SSRA) paths, trails, parks, facilities, grounds, lake, rinks and amenities.More information about Lake Summerside can be found at www.lakesummerside.caReporting: The Parks Manager reports directly to the General Manager of the SSRA.Duties: Below is a summary of the consistent tasks the Parks Manager is responsible for. Other duties are required based on the needs of the business. Training will be provided for any successful candidate as needed.Summer: - Ensuring all SSRA trails, paths, and amenities are maintained- Weekly lawn maintenance- Operation and basic maintenance of ride- on lawn mowers, trimmers, push mower- Landscaping- Basic knowledge of tree care- Daily tree and shrub watering- Event and amenities set up- Operation of watercraft- Basic boat maintenance- Weekly water samples for lab analysis- Working with pumps/ blower systemsWinter: - Snow removal on all SSRA paths, trails, amenities, walkways, and parking lot- Rink maintenance on land and lake- Comfortable with working on lake ice in the winter- Event and amenities set up- Basic Zamboni maintenance and operations- Land based hockey rink set up and tear down- Operation and maintenance of backpack blowers- Comfortable working outside in the cold for extended periods of timeSafety: - Continuous updating of the Health & Safety Management System- Ensuring all staff are following safety protocol (including proper PPE)- Partaking in quarterly Health & Safety Committee meetings- Winter safety while working on frozen lake is an absolute must- Always assessing for new hazards- Required safety courses for safety trainingNew Hire Onboarding & Training- Hiring and training of new maintenance staff- Safety training and orientation on all hires- Monthly competency training on equipment- Staff performance reviewsOther tasks- Daily briefings with maintenance team- Designating duties between maintenance staff- Reporting to the General Manager of ongoing projects and future tasks- Scheduling and time tracking for maintenance staff- Working with the General Manager on exploring new ideas for Residents- Upkeep of maintenance shop- Weekly check of all SSRA paths, trails, amenities- Daily check of park and facility- Communicating with residentsShift Details: Expected working hour’s 40/week Monday – Friday. The Parks Manager will also be required to take calls after hours and on weekends in case of emergencies. The Parks Manager may be asked to work special events, and cover shifts that are outside the normal work hours including weekends as needed.Skills/ Abilities/ Experience- Please note that not all the below skills and abilities listed are requirements of the job.
