The Library is a great place to take your career!What we're looking for:Reporting to the Manager, Payroll and Employee Services and working closely with other team members, the Pay and Benefits Lead oversees and provides full-cycle payroll and benefits processing for EPL. As the subject matter expert on payroll for EPL, you will:Oversee and run bi-weekly payroll processing including auditing and pay corrections, and participate in the year-end auditing process.Supervise and support the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator.Provide expert advice, support and training to managers and employees on all matters related to pay and benefits and the HRIS.Take initiative and accountability for researching and developing payroll procedures and guidelines, including developing and implementing quality assurance processes, reconciliations, and audit processes to ensure data integrity.Provide interpretation of the Collective Agreement as it relates to pay and benefits and ensure full compliance with related legislation and policies.Apply advanced level knowledge of MS Excel to support pay and benefits reporting, processes and projects including compensation, benefit and workforce related costing and analysis for the purpose of facilitating senior management decision-making.Demonstrate strong business communication skills (written, verbal and presentation) and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Have an excellent working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards, the Alberta Labour Code and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.Demonstrate strong analytical and problem solving skills.Provide technical expertise on system-wide and external teams and committees concerning current pay and benefits related issues and system updates.Support collective bargaining decision-making through analysis of costing and alternative scenarios.You will provide exceptional customer service with a focus on accuracy, critical timelines and confidentiality. This leadership role is a working level payroll professional who collaborates with individuals at all levels of the organization and requires a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy to achieve results. As the ideal candidate, you are a team player and are always willing to help out in a pinch.Qualifications :A related post-secondary diploma or degree; a related degree is preferred.Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification or higher.A minimum of 5 years of experience administering end-to-end payroll in a unionized and public service/non-profit environment.Experience administering a comprehensive benefits program.Experience with HRIS systems; preferably SAP (SuccessFactors), PeopleSoft, and/or Ceridian Dayforce.Who we are:The secret ingredient for making EPL a magical place is no secret at all; in fact, it's very simple: We share.
