Subsidiary: Standard General Inc.Standard General Inc.250 Carleton DriveSt. Albert, AB T8N 6W2Job DescriptionStandard General Edmonton is looking for a Plant Operator for our Asphalt Plants. 1-3 years of experience as a plant operator is an asset, but we are willing to train the right candidate.The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of their designated asphalt plant facilities for the production and distribution of hot mix asphalt and other mix designs used in the construction and maintenance of roadways. The Asphalt Plant Operator is also responsible for the execution of the maintenance program of the plant equipment and facilities in order to keep the plant functioning safely and efficiently.Knowledge/Skills

  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude, with direct work experience and sound knowledge of plant/conveyor systems.
  • Must have strong computer skills particularly with troubleshooting.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, with the ability to build interpersonal relationships with colleagues and clients.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team in a busy fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations.
Experience/Education
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent) is required.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience as a Plant Operator is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate.
  • Experience working in an an asphalt plant is considered an asset.
