Position Description: Procurement & Contracts SpecialistReports to: Director of OperationsLocation: Edmonton, AlbertaBBE Expediting Ltd. provides freight forwarding & expediting services, supply chain logistics, distribution and procurement of goods, project staffing, and cargo handling services domestically and internationally. Built and perfected on experience developed during four decades in the Canadian Arctic, BBE is recognized as one of the leading suppliers of remote supply chain services across North America and around the world.We are seeking a committed team player for the role of Procurement & Contracts Specialist to ensure that BBE’s strategic growth targets and market position are achieved across our lines of business. To be successful in the role, you must embrace continuous learning to develop and strengthen relationships with vendors to meet stakeholder requirements that align with superior customer service and provide value by offering unique solutions to the challenges of goods and services to remote and Northern locations in Canada.BBE’s VisionSupply Chain Partner, Networking the World.BBE’s Core ValuesIntegrity, Safety, Innovation, Excellence and ServiceDuties and responsibilities of the Procurement & Contracts Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Commit to BBE QHSE standards and integrate BBE values into everyday practices.
  • Find and qualify carriers on existing and new lanes, and establish pricing, commercial terms and set up for import into BBE’s online shipping platform ubbe.
  • Find and qualify suppliers of goods and services in existing and new categories, and establish pricing, commercial terms and set up for import into BBE’s sales catalogue.
  • Ensure agreements and relationships with carriers and other suppliers of goods and services are managed to stay aligned with BBE’s commitments to customers and other stakeholders.
  • Measure vendor related KPI’s and further negotiate with existing suppliers and carriers for better pricing, term and conditions, and continuous improvement of performance.
  • Ensure that the value of Procurement & Contracts Specialist function is quantifiable on a continuous basis.
  • Contribute to developments across BBE’s value chain to enhance our service offering.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years’ experience sourcing and managing suppliers.
  • Commercial agreement management and negotiations experience.
  • Professional approach to vendor and customer relationship management.
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent written/verbal communications.
  • Maintains a professional presentation and image both in attire and demeanor.
  • Continually seek and accept professional and self-improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to establish strong customer centered commercial relationships with vendors.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, competitive and customer driven environment.
  • University or Technical school degree in commerce, supply chain or other relevant discipline.
  • Proficient in Microsoft software applications.
