PROGRAM CHAIR – HEALTH CARE AIDEFACULTY OF HEALTH STUDIESNorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to lead our Health Care Aide team as the Program Chair in the Faculty of Health Studies (FHS). The Health Care Aide program at NorQuest College is well-known and one of the largest in Alberta, continuing to meet our health workforce needs in the province by graduating a large number of competent health care aides.The role of the Program Chair as an academic leader is challenging and rewarding as a key connection between faculty-student interaction and administrative operation. The Program Chair must not only manage an efficient operation, but lead an effective one. This means supervising, directing, inspiring and coaching instructional staff. To stay current with the faculty and student needs, the Chair maintains a teaching load with relief for administrative and leadership duties. The Chair works with the Academic Program Manager, Vice Dean, Dean, and other stakeholders to establish, implement and achieve academic program and faculty goals and objectives, through innovation, creativity and teaching excellence. Day to day operational responsibilities are shared with the Associate Chair of the program.Success in the role of Program Chair- Health Care Aide, is to provide academic leadership and onsite management to promote learning in the Health Care Aide Program. Delivery modalities include: full-time, part-time, online learning and regional. Candidates who have demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, possess strong organizational capability, and can creatively problem-solve will thrive in this role.This role reports directly to the Academic Program Manager (APM), and is an active faculty member of the FHS Leadership Team.How you’ll make a difference

  • Focuses on maintaining curriculum integrity and quality assurance.
  • Recruiting and orienting faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrated understanding of equity, diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, including the needs of our international and Indigenous learners
  • Monitoring faculty and staff development and performance and recommending improvements in performance and professional development.
  • Resolving academic issues, such as student appeals, and escalating as appropriate.
  • Participating in the development of operational and financial plans.
  • Leading program reviews and supporting accreditation requirements.
  • Strategically plan scheduling of deliveries, classes and staff assignments
  • Clinical placements
  • Optimize internal processes to improve departmental operations
  • Coordinating the development and delivery of courses and programs.
  • Participating in timely and accurate communication with key stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of program advisory committees, and external committees as required.
  • Promoting and participating in teaching excellence.
  • Facilitating learning and advocating for learner academic success.
  • Using teaching and learning strategies in an innovative way to support learner’s success.
What you bring
  • Current nursing license (CLPNA/CRNA) and is a member in good standing.
  • A Bachelor Degree is required; with a Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Three to five years management experience in post-secondary or clinical practice environment.
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Successfully taught in a post-secondary environment. Preference for candidates who have taught the Health Care Aide program prior.
  • Proficient computer skills.

SALARY: Reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent Instructor position. The Chair position is for an initial two-year term with the possibility of renewal. The Chair is a member of faculty; once the term(s) are completed the occupant will maintain a full-time teaching role as an instructor. This role includes immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement outlines how pay is determined. Program Chairs also receive a stipend to reflect the additional complexity of administrative responsibilities.IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS:Successful candidates for the Program Chair Nursing position is required to provide the following:
