The division works with local civil society organizations, municipalities and Metis Settlements to prevent and address social issues like family violence, sexual violence, and homelessness.The CSCI branch is responsible for the FCSS Grant, the CSF Grant, and other strategic grant programs as needed (eg. COVID-19 Emergency Social Services Grant, Low Income Transit Pass Grants, Food Security Grants). The FCSS programs have a significant impact on Albertans and have substantial public accountability delivering over $105 million in funding to over 300 Municipalities and Metis Settlements each year. The Civil Society Fund provides funding to civil society organizations to expand their capacity to address social problems facing Albertans.To find out more about our work visit:RoleThe Civil Society and Community Initiatives unit of the Preventive Community Services Branch is seeking an individual to provide on-going support and research of policy and legislative analysis, monitoring, and support to the grant programs provided through the branch, including the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Program, the Civil Society Fund, and other grant programs.In this role you will act independently in addressing local issues, providing problem solving advice and recommending changes in policy, procedures, and practice to the Ministry. You will identify gaps in policies, legislation, and program operations in order to develop policies and legislation that are practical and meet the needs of FCSS program outcomes and associated stakeholders. You must be able to develop and sustain working relationships with municipalities and Metis Settlements, other government departments, and civil society organizations.As the provinces expert advisor and facilitator, you will be pivotal in ensuring there is effective and on-going communication regarding the governments expectations of the administration of grants delivered by the branch, providing support to municipalities, Metis Settlements and civil society organizations. Your duties in this role include, but are not limited to:1. Ensure that municipalities and Metis Settlements in the Province of Alberta are in compliance with all program requirements set through legislation, the FCSS Accountability Framework, and Program Policies.2. Provide effective grant management processes for all grants within the CSCI branch to ensure compliance with government policies and procedures.3. Provide advice and guidance to regarding all CSCI grant programs.4. Support stakeholder relations, working with various internal and external stakeholders.5. Support program evaluation and quality improvement for FCSS, CSF, and all other CSCI Grants.QualificationsDegree in Public Administration, Business Administration or related field.Knowledge and experience in the area of program and community development, municipal administration, regulatory or grant administration is required.Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to be successful in this role.Experience working with internal and external stakeholders is preferred.Knowledge and understanding of preventive social services would be an asset.Experience interpreting and applying policy and legislation is an asset.APS CompetenciesCompetencies are behaviors that are essential to reach our goals in serving Albertans.
