Job Description

Highlights of the jobWe are hiring a full-time temporary, for up to 12 months, Project Coordinator position working out of Edmonton, AB.As the Project Coordinator, Technologies (embedded), you will support project execution within the Transmission Projects divisions of EPCOR Distribution and Transmission (EDTI). Be accountable for supporting the delivery of a portfolio of annual projects or programs to support business objectives. Project Coordinators maybe asked to support one Project Manager, a team of Project Managers, or to, independently deliver low complexity projects with the oversight of a Project Manager. In addition, support delivery of all aspects of a project from inception through to close out including cost and schedule monitoring and reporting, contract management, HSE reporting, coordinating regulatory deliverables and records management.What you’d be responsible for

  • Interacting with, and supporting project managers and a portfolio of multiple projects ranging from low to high cost, complexity and duration.
  • Supporting records management for projects by keeping project records up to date in a variety of software applications, including SharePoint, IVARA, and eScheduler.
  • Support portfolio scheduling by working with the project scheduler to provide updates to project schedules for inclusion in the projects Primavera schedule. Support the setting of project priorities and manage schedule compliance for on-time delivery.
  • Supporting the project manager in preparing and submitting AESO reports
  • Using Oracle and Oracle Business Intelligence to support project procurement, including submitting requisitions, vendor payments, and project cost monitoring and project cost forecasting.
  • Supporting the Project Managers in the creation and ever-greening of project documents, including project charters, project management plans, internal regulatory compliance documentation, (CfCCs), project change requests and project close-out documentation.
  • Providing administrative support such as organizing project meetings, recording meeting minutes and action items, maintaining project issues logs, and filing and logging project safety documentation.
  • Working with the Project Managers to ensure the safe execution of all projects by supporting hazard identification and safe work planning at all phases of the project.
  • Liaising with internal EPCOR staff including engineering, procurement, project controls, and construction crews to ensure the smooth flow of deliverables between groups in support of efficient project execution.
  • Participating in field activities such as project field kick-offs, project walk-downs and HSE inspections during construction.
  • Managing aspects of construction including follow up on field inspections, managing construction deficiencies and contractor coordination.
  • Other duties maybe assigned consistent with job description.
What’s required to be successful
  • Minimum two (2) year Technology Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering from a recognized Post-Secondary institution is required.
  • Minimum 4 years of project management experience is required, preferably in a construction environment.
  • Experience with utility construction in energized substations and knowledgeable in the hazards and appropriate safe work practices
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong safety focus and the ability to lead by example to set the tone and direction for health and safety focus on projects.
  • Understanding and experience of foundation Project Management processes and procedures aligned with the Project Management Body of Knowledge.
  • Experience in project management of complex utility construction projects with increasing responsibility considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience with contractors and contract management considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge and proficiency in the following Project Management tools is preferred:
    • Oracle suite of tools including Primavera P6 and Power BI
    • Microsoft suite of tools including Word, Excel, and SharePoint
    • Bentley IVARA
