Job Description

OverviewThe Project Coordinator covers a varying degree of roles assisting both the Project Engineer (or Deputy Project Manager) and the Project Manager. These roles consist of being a field liaison with the foremen to help track targets per the prime contractor agreement and Nexar internal procedures to keep project on schedule and reaching production targets. The project coordinator is in training under the Project Engineer to mirror many technical tasks to grow into a potential managerial/engineering role over time.Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in project estimates, change order estimates and project closeout reviews
  • Control site instructions, change order requests and change orders
  • Assist with the preparation and tracking of payment requests, invoices and estimates
  • Collect and compile project progress data on a daily basis
  • Define the subcontract scope of work, answer inquiries (RFI #39;s), create COR’s and monitor progress
  • Contribute to the implementation of the quality control program
  • Assist with setup, issuance of documentation, pricing and change administration
  • Monitor and track equipment and resources inventory and assist in the procurement and expedition of materials
  • Work with the Project Manager to establish a cost reporting system for all project components, including process pipe fabrications, field installation, structural steel fabrication, underground piping, civil, and various sub-trades
  • Monitor daily, weekly and monthly labour, equipment, material and sub-trade costs, and costs accruals to regularly review with the Project Manager
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of project schedule, manpower schedule and quantity schedule
  • Thorough understanding of the contract
  • Identify critical path and keep abreast of manpower loading and materials deliveries
  • Control drawings, drawing records and revisions
  • Draft all field RFI’s for the Project Manager to review as required (if no project engineer is on site)
  • Maintain all QA/QC documentation and records of all testing and inspections and ensure that all technical aspects of the work conform to all applicable codes and standards
  • Monitor all payroll functions to ensure proper coding and cost allocation
  • Assist with preparing progress invoicing and progress status reports
  • Complete change order estimates, review estimates and assist in costing
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of work plans
  • Perform field visits to each crew to assist in tracking such as for UPI’s or change order tracking on timesheets
  • Participate in the onboarding and prephase of each crew and their respective leaders by mentoring them on the requirements and commitments made to our stakeholders
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; and/or combination of education is preferred
Experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience in an oil and gas construction related role is preferred
Skills and Knowledge
  • Good understanding of the pipeline construction industry
  • Ability to read and understand relevant construction documents including contracts, drawings, specifications, subcontracts, construction codes, standards, and practices
  • Understanding of estimating and project management theories, methodologies and industry practices
  • Familiar with CSA Standards, ABSA, CWB and WCB standards and practices
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills towards the generation of solutions and sound decisions
  • Optimistic/collaborative approach and attitude towards work with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication skills: written and verbal skills, listening skills, organization abilities, proven attention to detail, and ability to develop good working relationships with inside and outside organizations
Working Conditions
  • The position is a field based on the job site reporting to management
  • Projects are generally 12 hour days from Monday to Saturday (6 days a week).
