Environment/Context:QA Inspectors - Short Term Maintenance / Outages (Piping, Pressure Vessels, Tanks).Various Locations in AB: Edmonton, Fort Saskatchewan, Wood Buffalo, Medicine Hat, Grande Prairie, Cold Lake. The preferred candidate will be capable of establishing techniques and procedures, interpreting codes, standards, specifications, and procedures, recommending test methods, techniques, and procedures to be used.Candidate shall be deemed to have the competence to interpret and evaluate results according to existing codes, standards, and specifications and have sufficient practical technical background to select methods and establish techniques and assist in establishing acceptance criteria where none are otherwise available. In addition, the inspector will be able to perform detailed unsupervised inspections according to an assessment and test plans for new equipment or an Inspection scope of work IWP / Inspection Test Plan ITP for in-service equipment that is not subject to statutory requirements.Able to assume responsibility for a ‘user inspector’ operation and demonstrate a clear and justified view of the subject of risk. Be able to make detailed inspection results with code/defect acceptance criteria and justify conclusions using code calculations. In cases where corrosion and other in-service defects are found, the inspector can allocate severity levels and contribute input to a risk-based inspection (RBI) scheme, if applicable.Roles, Accountability & Responsibilities RAR:

• Perform in-service inspection, including corrosion monitoring of equipment and piping and executing NDE (Non-Destructive Examination) to confirm the integrity of equipment repairs, modification, and new construction.
• Act as a technical resource to Unit Engineers on codes and standards and provide effective inspection services for the entire site.
• Prepare and maintain all inspection records and procedures per the inspection program.
• Develop and implement long-term preventative and predictive inspection plans for static equipment and piping systems.
• Responsible for ensuring that all fabrication, erection, and construction activities within the plant and at vendor shops meet engineering specifications, regulations, industry codes, and other relevant industry standards.
• Submit to client technically accurate reports documenting equipment condition.
• Provide client with technical recommendations for the repair, re-rate, replacement, and alteration of plant equipment, as required for safe operation within stated operating parameters for durations specified by the client.
• Provide technical input to the client as required for welding and metallurgical issues.
• Provide technical guidance on the application of non-destructive examination techniques and procedures.
• Fully comply with all Quad and client safe work practices and actively participate in all site safety initiatives.
• Register pressure vessels and exchangers to ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
• Work closely with the Unit and Project Engineers and the Maintenance and Operations team to maintain plant regulatory compliance, effective shutdown, turnarounds, and production targets.
• Prepare NDE scope of work, coordinate and supervise inspection service contractors to meet the plant’s safety and quality requirements.
• Other assignments from time to time as required.

Skills & Knowledge Required -Education/Experience

• Technical degree or 10+ years of relevant work experience in a petrochemical, chemical, or refinery production facility.

Skills/Competencies -Technical Skills

• Minimum seven (7) years experience in the petrochemical, chemical refinery, or related industries.
• Minimum two (2) years’ documented radiation protection experience, including knowledge of industrial radiographic operations with at least 40 hours of active participation in industrial radiographic procedures.
• Certified API653 Tank Inspector.
• Certified API570 Piping Inspector
• Accredited API510 Pressure Vessel Inspector
• Certified API936 Refractory Inspector is an asset.
• Certified CWB Welding Inspector.
• The position will be based on client inspection type needs as per the class of pressure equipment to be inspected. Therefore, preference will be given to Candidates with multiple tickets.
• Knowledge Risk-Based Inspection (RBI), based on API and ASME plus Damage Mechanism
• Assessment for RBI and Fitness for Service (FFS) based on API RP 571
• Fitness-For-Service (FFS) Assessment, based on API RP 579-1/ASME FFS-1 2007
• Knowledge and experience in preparing and evaluating WPS (welding procedure specification)
• QPR (Procedure Qualification Record)
• WQT (Welding Qualification Tests)
• Weld Repair of Pressure Equipment and Piping.
• Knowledge of metallurgy
• Solid interpersonal skills to effectively interact at all levels
• Demonstrated understanding of regulatory environments.

• Strong computer skills with proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications

Physical Requirements, Visual Acuity Requirements, and Environmental Conditions:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and perform tasks requiring repetitive use of hands. In addition, the employee must occasionally walk, stand, and travel by car, airplane, or other means. As a result, exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of energy constantly to move objects.
• Employees must have the ability to see written documents, computer screens and to adjust focus.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
