This position requires a person who can work collaboratively in a team and displays flexibility and openness when dealing with others. The ideal candidate has a passion for training and adult learning.Additional accountabilities extend to the National Training System with respect to the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of training system elements, programs, policies and practices.Job DescriptionKey Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop and deliver instructional technology (pedagogical) courses using the systems approach to training to prepare operational instructors for the delivery of quality training in all NAV CANADA training programs
  • Facilitate teams of operational subject-matter experts in the design, development, delivery and evaluation of operational training courses in accordance with NAV CANADA and Transport Canada policies
  • Provide academic counselling to students / trainees and facilitate a positive learning atmosphere throughout the operational training
  • Coach instructors on effective adult educational practices and on academic counselling techniques
  • Evaluate regional training activities including needs analysis, design, delivery and all associated operational training elements and products
  • Address specific educational requirements and research new and effective adult educational practices to enhance the delivery of the Company’s regional operational training initiatives
Job Requirements:Education:
  • Successful completion of a University Degree in Education or in a related field of study
  • Sport coaching certificate is preferred
Experience:
  • Coaching and teaching experience
  • Experience in facilitating groups
  • Experience in managing a project and knowledge of associated tools and processes
  • Experience in the development of technical training courses utilizing the systems approach to training
  • Experience in supporting training development teams
Knowledge
  • In depth knowledge of the Systems Approach to Training.
  • Knowledge of software tools (i.e. Word, excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project).
  • In depth knowledge of training methodology and processes as it relates to adult education.
  • Knowledge of training evaluation processes and techniques to measure learning and to validate training design.
Abilities
  • Ability to provide professional educational consultation services to all personnel involved in technical training with respect to the identification of learning problems, identification of learning/teaching styles application and best practices
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement training projects from Task Analysis to pilot course
  • Ability to lead teams for projects both regionally and national in scope including involvement in needs identification, design and development, evaluation and validation
  • Ability to coach a multi-functional team
  • Ability to analyse problems and determine root cause and implement training solutions when required
