Job Description

Park Paving Ltd. is one of the largest road construction contractors in the Edmonton and surrounding area, and we have been locally owned and operated for over 40 years. We pride ourselves on building strong and long-lasting relationships with our employees by providing life-long career opportunities with an always competitive compensation package.We are currently looking for a Seasonal Safety Admin (and Jr. Coordinator) to work in our Safety Department.Primary duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Handling, processing and organizing of all safety documentation (including the creation of reports based on documentation information)
  • Composing internal communications relating to safety meeting minutes and toolbox talks on various safety topics for company-wide distribution.
  • Composing drafts of policies and procedures based off of information received from other departments from within the company.
  • Working with other safety personnel to compile information regarding incident statistics and incident costs for review by supervisors and management.
  • Reporting to supervisors on safety performance and suggesting improvements, or suggesting solutions to issues, to improve company safety.
  • On-site safety visits (i.e. field site visits) to provide awareness on specific safety topics and other safety assistance as required.
QUALIFICATIONSSuccessful candidates will:
  • Have a strong operating knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Code of Alberta (especially as it applies to the road construction industry).
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal clients.
  • Work well with a number of employees across different company departments to achieve company safety goals and objectives.
  • Have strong organizational skills to process and share the large volumes of information received on a daily basis.
  • Poses the strong communication skills necessary to work with all of our company’s different operations (construction, material production, fleet maintenance, etc.), and supervisory and management staff..
  • Have a strong operating knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of products (e.g. Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Powerpoint).
  • Must be comfortable working with computers and learning new software.
Education and experience requirements:
  • Class 5 Driver's License with driving record free of major infractions
  • A degree or certificate in occupational health and safety.
  • COR Auditor, Standard First Aid, and WHMIS-Train-the-Trainer certificates.
  • Preference given to candidates with construction industry and/or safety coordinator experience.
